So now that collegehumor's arc is essentially settled: what's the verdict on this? Did any casual J&A fan ever see it? Is it any good? I enjoy it mostly because I've grown up with the characters, but I don't know if it scans quite as well as the series' short-form segments. Amir in 2011 channeling old callbacks feels like he's trying to access a part of himself he doesn't like that much, and Jake's acting when he's not being the straight man is pretty wooden. Plus the transitions come off kind of weirdly styled and their sense of humor with a bigger budget ends up feeling more shallow than stuff made for KZbin. I guess I like this mostly as a time capsule of when CH was on top of the world enough to make this, DVDs still existed, and Amir's character was the perfect enough cross-section of needy loser and aggressively-confident chaos creator to make the two best scenes, him negotiating for a job and him negotiating with Jake for "best friend" title, work. This seems to be a decent landmark for where the two got really comfortable working together and developing chemistry as a full-time job, but also where their creative material and sense of nuanced character started to decline into the long run (see: their creative minds as partners post-CollegeHumor delving into...dating comedy, advice, and watching their old work).
