I think Sig ultimately wants to see Jake succeed as a captain as part of the next generation of crab captains. I think Sig is trying to tell Jake the other aspects of running a boat. Maybe he’s not very good at giving it in a way that’s not very negative. I’m sure Sig had the same feelings when he started as a captain. Also Sig spent the most time with him and seeing how he started as a greenhorn on the NW so he knows him as well as his family. At the end of the day if Jake’s goal was to be a captain and it won’t happen on the NW then I see no problem going to another boat

I don't think so. I think Sig's concern for Jake is the same concern his own dad would have had for him. He's kind of taken on that role for Jake. If you watch Viking Returns, Sig and Mandy offer Jake part ownership in their venture there and he takes them up on it. Jake's part of Sig's family, really. And he did well, anyway. He's usually at the top of the count on the regular show.
