Aboard the Wizard a sudden slip causes one of the crewmates to dislocate his knee. This is not the first time it happens to him, which makes the captain think this is something the Greenhorn should have disclosed when taking the job.

If this was a reoccurring problem, you’d think he’d have a special support brace to help keep the knee aligned

Maybe dude can't afford health insurance or is going through a tough time at home. I don't know; I try to give people the benefit of the doubt before I just decide the situation for them (which I don't ever do first cause that's judgmental and wrong). Whatever the situation is, my job as a captain is to be there for my crew who are breaking their back trying to do what I pay them to do. And because I understand that $%%% ain't easy, I won't ever shame them for being hurt. That can happen to the best of people. My only job is to be there for them. I've seen much better captains, let alone leaders, than this dude and many captains on this show. smh

He is he asked straight up didn’t dance around it he asked “has this happened before” and “what caused it” and “why didn’t you let me know when I hired you” he knew he wouldn’t have got the job and he knew he isn’t even physically capable of doing the job and lied to get it. Captain is looking out for his health by telling him straight sorry if you are a goofball and don’t understand how caring for someone works

Scream? Have you guys ever had a real job before? He didn't say anything insulting to him, not a single insult. He asked the right questions. "Has this happened before, and if it has, what did you do!?". Yes, his voice is up, it needs to be, he needs to make his point across loud and clear. He needed to know what to do, if the injured guy told him "go back to port" he would've.

I have chronic knee problems and have dislocated both my knee caps at least 3 times. It HURTS. Recovery takes upwards of 6 weeks with some intense PT and NO WALKING ON THE LEG WITHOUT SUPPORT for up to 8 weeks. If they had straightened his leg and put pressure on it, they probably could've popped it back in place, which would've relieved some of the pain, but he'd still be off the ship ASAP. I feel for the guy, but Keith is absolutely correct, you tell your boss about this even if it's a non-issue JUST IN CASE.

On a boat and this goes for any boat not just fish vessels if anything happens while off the dock it’s the captains fault even if the crew member disobeys an order from the captain (which is illegal while at sea and the captain can and will call the coast guard who will arrest them and charge them with endangering the ship and crew which is like a $10,000 fine) it’s the captains fault because it’s his boat and he needs to know and have control over everything that happens on his boat.

How in the world did he dislocate his titanium knee? I didn't even think that was possible. I hope he recovers well. Keith's not wrong here. He was dishonest from the start. If he knew about this, he should have told him about it when being interviewed. By being dishonest, Keith now has to deal with the aftermath of this.

Regardless of circumstances, if my boss spoke to me in front of other crew members like this, he’d wanna be damned sure I wasn’t able to get up! Yeah, fishing is tough etc and I’ve worked in far nastier work places, but when someone gets hurt the captain must watch his attitude a little better! I was left with a life long injury because my employer didn’t take it seriously, not only did they basically dump me out front of a hospital with no way to get myself in side, the hospital didn’t take it as seriously as they should because I come in alone without anyone from my workplace present😡 It turned out after 6 plus months of intense rehab on my effected leg without my pain improving, they finally discovered I’d actually fractured my spine in several places their lack of care and being too much in a hurry to get me working again ended up with me never being able to work again! Unless this guy has had this happen to him many many times before, I’m not sure I’d be calling him a liar really either. Regardless, seeing as he fell while in fairly rough seas, anyones knee could have blown out in that kind of fall. Yeah it sucks for the captain and crew, no doubt, but it’s also a normal occurrence in this industry, blaming the injured party is just weak as hell!

Who in their right mind with a Total Knee Replacement goes to work on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea? This isn't about the Captain, the twit with a prosthetic knee knows better! He's overextended himself, hid his injury from his employer, and could have put everyone in danger - what if he was attending a rescue and lost a man because he put too much weight over the knee and it dislocated as he was trying to save someone?

Lmao people defending the liar because "he needed money" what if he lied about his knee to the fire fighters, and on the first mission he dislocates it while trying to rescue someone? If you are going to lie about an injury do it for non physical jobs like accounting, not fishing. Also how is the captain supposed to know if he had a previous injury during an interview?

He's not wrong by any means...but there is a time to put fishing aside. Those kids are out there sometimes on no sleep and this capt only thing on his mind is fishing...when someone gets hurt they get hurt. It's time to stop worrying about fishing and worry more about safety and well-being of your crew.
