As I said in another comment, he would have never beaten Keaton (Birdman) or Redmayne (The Theory of Everything, for which he won) in that year, but I do agree that he was fantastic in Nightcrawler and should have at least been nominated. Maybe this year he can win it.

I think it's more in that understated, nuanced way in which he said so much by saying so little to him that people appreciate him in this scene. However I do agree, that guy is the token Bostonian white guy in every movie based in Boston, lol, and he steals every scene he ever shows up in.
