Jeff Bauman loses both of his legs when two bombs explode during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. After regaining consciousness in the hospital, Jeff is able to help law enforcement identify one of the suspects, but his own battle is just beginning. It’s easy to be passionate about your job when you’re getting paid as much as he does. I love his work, don’t get me wrong, and of course he works hard and there are challenges to acting like there are to any job, but don’t give yourself a hard time because you don’t have the same passion in your job as someone whose life is made a little easier by his paycheck.

This film was tough. it was released so soon after the event. I worked with friends of Jeff in Amesbury for about 7 years. My entire group of close coworkers were connected to him and his girlfriend, and I remember the days after the bombing, and making the connection, and feeling absolutely devastated for him to have gone to support his girlfriend and ending up losing his legs. It was a nightmare unfolding as I watched friends in anguish. I still struggle. I'll never forget it. But I'm so glad they casted the story as they did with an actor that cared enough to go above and beyond to understand his person.
