Great song. In British slang someone who is a 'ledge,' spelt with a 'd,' is someone who is considered a legend. "When I nod, the Ledge is how I'm known." How a British slang word got into a rodeo song is a mystery. But it does seem at home there.

Jake wrote the song, about champion steer roper Guy Allen, whose nickname was "The Legend". That wasn't available as a song title, so Jake picked "The Ledge" as sort of the next best title...
