To take that many blows from an extremely powerful puncher like Sugar Ray Robinson and never even get knocked down qualifies Jake LaMotta as the toughest boxer to ever step into a ring. Incredible. LaMotta was knocked down only once in his pro career.

This mans facial structure was literally man for maximum durability. Just like a pit bull his skull to jawline was built like reinforce steel. Thank God for gloves. If it were bare knuckle I don't think anyone would stand a chance. It's almost a 100% chance you break at least one hand before the 4 or 5th round. He's built for fight to the death. Real animalistic shit.

@@ascendediam That's a good thing, they were belting shots as much as they can like it was in the amatuers, but each shot had bad intentions and for 13 rounds instead of 3 or 4. Their technique(particularly Robinson's footwork punch selection), were on display beautifully working along with their talents(robinson was very gifted for boxing, along with Jake Lamotta), few boxers today have a fraction of their skillset along with their stamina. For you to call them novices is discrediting what they did for the sport today. There's a reason they're called All Time Greats, meanwhile there's few great fighters of today all compete for various ABC belts, multiple champions in each division. If they were here today they trounce everyone from 135-175.
@ascendediam

@jahjawesome5615 well I'm comparing to the average 70s fighter which has nothing to do with anybody doing anything for the sport,so where did you get boxers now dont have their skillset from?, like stop saying idiotic stuff And watch full rounds

@@ascendediam Comparing them to different eras is the thing that's a bit of a convoluted . And I do watch full rounds of all types of fights from UFC, Boxing, Kickboxing Ect. I just wanted to see Lamotta's get quickly get pounded in. I'm just saying that for you to call them horrible novices is completely deranged, as it implies their skillset is not as developed as those in modern and recent eras, as Ray Robinson in particular looks like he could contend and dominate in today's game and other eras like the 70's. But you had the audacity to say "This looks horrible very novice like" about two all time great middleweights, with one literally being considered the greatest boxer to ever live. And on top of that, you don't even have to decency to post your criticism with proper grammar on these two warriors. Respectfully, I disagree with your take..

Sugar Ray Robinson is greatest fighter of all time. To still be on your feet is not unheard of. Jake lamotta bone density wasn't human. Look how big his skull is. From skull to jawline is like reinforce steel. That's why he was such an amazing inside fighter. He kept his body protected in the shell defense and kept his head at the center of his opponents chest so he could feel or see everything from the shoulders. Slipping/rolling shots and level changing from head to body brilliantly. This man lived to be 95. How is that possible taking that much punishment to the head. Never been knocked down. His face was literally built different. There's really no one like him. He would be unstoppable in bare knuckle. You would break your hand on his head immediately.

LaMotta was a much better boxer than fans give him credit for.Well past his best and fighting at 175lb he gave beltin' Bob Murphy a boxing lesson. Not withstanding that, in this fight and weight weakened at making 160lb, LaMotta dug his elbows into his ribs and offered his big head as a target. Robinson was a premiere league banger with both hands, especially his left hook, but barely dented the aptly named Bronx Bull. No wonder Graziano wanted nothing to do with Jake.

I expected to see one of them just completely destroy the other because of the word 'massacre.' This wasn't a massacre. It was more like a war. It should be renamed the War of 1951.
