@@THESLlCK oh its insane. Its currently holding a few of my teeth togethsr after they self destructed one time... long story edit: i've told the story lower in the comments but i'll paste it here as well ok because of the sheer amount of people asking i shall tell. but its completely stupid. i was in my last year of 6th form (i'm british, its just the last year of education before we go off to uni/college.) and i was sitting in the school library on the last day of term. because its the last day no one really cares about rules and the librarian is handing out haribos. i bite into one and i notice its crunchy. i say out loud that they're stale. the librarian jokes "make sure its not your teeth". well it was my teeth. the back half of my tooth had literally separated from the front. (i was lucky it didn't expose the nerve or that would hurt like hell), everyone found it hilarious (me included considering i wasn't in actual pain) one dentist check up later i had an appointment in a month. and now that dentist glue is part of a the prosthetic tooth bonded to the front half of the old one. even the dentist had no idea how a haribo did that to my tooth (it was a front one as well) so i just joke that it self destructed because there's no other plausible explanation. and thus the story has been told edit : as a p.s i'll share the experience of getting that glue put it. it was honestly shocking how peaceful it was. i almost fell asleep in the chair once i got comfortable. the only unsettling part was that the dentist had to file away a bit of my teeth to get a clean and flat surface for the bond. he put a uv light in my mouth to set it. i didn't feel it at all which i suppose is what is supposed to happen. the glue is extraordinary because they told me i could eat and drink immediately if i wanted. so i went and got some lunch in the town and sure enough my tooth was like new.

@@yourboyphoenix3217 you are either very young or very sheltered if you think that addiction is a conscious choice, ever more so if you believe someone would *make the decision* to get addicted. like jake said, it’s partially genetics (well, simply put, some people have more of a chance to get addicted to something than others) but it’s mostly terrible life circumstances. veterans who have no access to mental health resources, homeless people (i.e. someone’s family died from corona and they can’t afford their housing anymore so they end up on the streets and lose their job cause they aren’t registered to a flat anymore), depressed people, people trapped in abusive situations (children/teens/spouses), people with chronic illnesses, people with terminal illnesses…i could go on. anyone, absolutely anyone can get addicted. it’s just how the human brain works. we get addicted to all kinds of things - apparently some men can even get addicted to the smell of their own crotch 🤢 (thank my partner for this terrific useless fact they’ve found on the internet). the type of thinking that you have is really harmful. these people are already struggling and trying to get help, most of them have been kicked down to the bottom by life and you are being one of those people who push them backwards as they are trying to get up. that’s highly inhumane. i hope you never experience what’s it’s like to fight an addiction because i would hate for you to realise how flawed and heartless your arguments were when someone else is pushing your backwards as you are trying to get up.

Have you seen the season 8 behind the scenes on KZbin?
@trailblazer2253 жыл бұрын
Something I love is that Jake is "childish" in a goofy sense, but he's not actually irresponsible. Usually "childish" would mean someone who is lazy and unprofessional and just gets away with it because they skate by on their smarts (I love Psych but Shawn is a great example of this). But you can just see from how many of these scenes start with Jake being sleep-deprived that he may like to have fun and express his personality and he may have trouble with authority, but he never shirks his responsibilities. He'll pull one all-nighter after another to solve a case, and it's not just a matter of having "Eureka" moments either, he'll really do the work (I mean he plotted every crime in New York City, that is some hellishly tedious elbow grease). It's why Amy and Jake work too, because I don't think she'd respect him otherwise. When they go back to Jake's high school and it turns out he had perfect attendance, I think that's a perfect analogy for him as a cop; I'm sure he was the class clown in school, but he was never the kid to cut class.
@niftythegoblin3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but as someone who loves both shows, Jake is wayyyy more professional than Shawn. Shawn is childish and gets by knowing he’ll figure it out eventually (helps that he has an eidetic memory lmao) but Jake is REALLY determined, he’s just a bit of a goofball and has a good rapport w everyone

Not necessarily. Usually there are some provisions for 48 or 72 hour maximum shifts. Usually your boss will let you leave if you tell them "hey, I'm literally too exhausted to function today," but yeah -- you don't get to just go home. Alot of it is getting around it with your partner. That's the real source of the jokes about why detectives always hate partners that are terrible at driving: because that's when you catch up on sleep.
