I’m ashamed to admit that i’m 22 and never heard a jake promo before he debuted in AEW but goddamn that was amazing. I’ve never heard any wrestler i grew up watching cut such a damn evil promo. He sounds like an actual villain. The way he just walked away at the end. This man is gold.

I'm 24yr old I wasn't born during his era but I use to watched his wwf clips of the 80s this guy Jake is a promo god, he doesn't have to scream but a deep stare to the camera with an evil smile, so articulate so poetic. I used listen to old school promos of Ric flair, Dustin Rhodes, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rock and Stone Cold. But this Jake the Snake is something else in pro wrestling.

Jake Roberts is a legend and deservedly so, for his promos especially but his wrestling told a better story than most, solid work if old school in a world of tables, chairs and a continuous evolution to every move looking like it killed someone, he'd weaken his opponents, even them getting back off the mat looking like it sapped energy, then the short clothesline followed by the DDT, Jakes version, the first was a premium finisher, it looked, sounded and seemed deadly. Got my picture taken with him years ago when he was wrestling in London, was an important moment to me. Not yet had the time to watch AEW but Jake could be representing Doink the Clown and I'd fear his client because Jake told me I should!

Whenever a wrestler insults somebody's manhood it's just "meh, whatever", but when Jake does it, you feel it's really really implicit. When aew was starting out they did some videos, particularly about the tag title tournament, where Jake showed up with views, which was the highlight for me, he wasn't brilliant then, he wasn't the focus just someone who gave the odd input, but if aew could USE Jake, man, I was excited. And now they are, and it's an absolute treasure to behold. Man just oozes atmosphere like no other.
