Imho, a really fun way to build Mirko is "Clone Tribal". Since clones are normally 0/0s in the graveyard, Mirko doesn't actually need extra power to get them onto the battlefield. This also gives the deck strong "I'm playing your cards"-vibes without actually having to steal cards (which most players dislike and can lead to accidentally actually "stealing" cards if not careful) and automatically tones the power level down to a lot (since you'll pretty much never be more powerful than the other most powerful deck at the table and will likely play less synergistic cards overall).

I didn't go full on clone tribal, but I do run a lot of clones (10). I did go zero power tribal though, lots of great options at zero power. I'm really liking Workhorse, it seems underrated in these Mirko lists; turn 3 reanimate a Workhorse leads for some spicy turn 4s. Some of my best lines so far involve turn 3 Workhorse into turn 4 Sword of Hearth and Home blinking the workhorse, cloning the workhorse on eot and then casting some bomb instants (cyclonic rift, sublime epiphany etc). Tons of fun. Another good one is Threefold Thunderhulk. Some awesome turn 4s where I can sac a Gnome or two and equip Bloodthorn Flail (great in the deck, discard outlet and power booster for Mirko) and make 6-7 more Gnomes.

@@jayjayhooksch1 Oh, Workhorse is spicy tech, I like that. I'm currently brewing around a neat Living Lore combo with Breach the Multiverse/Rise of the Dark Realms: Get one of the 2 big lategame sorceries (that I like in my brew as lategame ensurance anyway) into the yard with a looter (I run all 5 looters that loot for free) or with Entomb/Unmarked Grave, get Living Lore into the yard aswell and then reanimate LL with even a 1 power Mirko, exile on of the big sorceries with LL and voilà: You now have a huge beater that only needs to deal combat damage (not combat damage to a player) to cast the sorcery for free. It's fragile and kinda janky, but it fits the deck like a glove because LL is a 0/0 creature in the yard (Scryfall helped me find some spicy ones).

@@Nr4747 only 5 looters? I find them to be the cog that makes the deck tick, I run 12 if you include Malcolm, Looter Il-Kor and Smuggler's copter. Bonded Fetch is nice enough to make the list as well since it's zero power, sucks that it doesn't come down before Mirko though, because of that it's probably the worst one I run. I definitely overlooked Living Lore, didn't realize it was any combat damage. Going to have to ponder over that one again, I have some decently high costed spells in the deck (sublime epiphany, Mystic Confluence and Lorien Revealed) but I think it would just be a 4/4 or smaller most of the time. Not sure if just running Mnemonic Wall might be better for my list.

@@jayjayhooksch1 Hm, interesting. Bonded Fetch is obviously great with Mirko if it's in the yard and not so great otherwise. I currently run a ton of Surveil to stick to the theme and not make the deck too powerful, which is how I intend to get cards into my yard outside of looting.

@@Nr4747 yea, I tried to keep my power level a little lower as well to match my playgroup. I initially got a little excited and put all of the fetchlands in that could grab Undercity Sewers, but I eventually cut them because my friends don't really play with fetchlands. Same with the powerful tutors like Vampiric and Imperial Seal, obviously very good with all of the looters but too powerful for my playgroup. But it's kind of fun to look for alternatives, like I found Anchor to Reality as a tutor that doesn't feel too OP but still works well in the deck. It finds Sword of Hearth to get rid of Finality counters/blink etbs, Bloodthorn Flail as a discard outlet and Demonmail Hauberk as a sac outlet and they all boost Mirko's power which is a nice bonus.

While I do like this deck, I just made a Dimir reanimater deck in The Ancient One as well as a Grixis deck in Admiral Brass Unsinkable. However, cards to consider when making this deck are Power Conduit and Nesting Grounds. Both get rid of finality counters, and Nesting Grounds can give finality counters to opponents' creatures which is really cheeky. Also, they both serve as removal fodder for players with bad threat assessment. I have both in my Admiral Brass Unsinkable deck and are targeted almost immediately while cards that I actually want to keep on the board are sitting in my hand.

Great video! I think im getting this deck and i'm building it reanimator and blink, focus con etb creatures, chupacabra, mulldrifter, archeomancer, reanimate them with mirkio, blink them to remove the finality counter and get an extra etb out of them. I do need to find a wincon that is better than just blinking gary and a bit more friendly than just comboing.

I'm in a similar boat; hard to find wincons other than Gary that are more friendly than combo. So far I've just decided that I'll go with some less sweaty tutors to find and protect Gary. Hoarding Broodlord is nice because it also gives you 3 black pips. I also really like Anchor to Reality, it doesn't find Gary but there are some good equipment you can run to turn Mirko into a Voltron threat that are also just great in the deck; Sword of Hearth and Home, Bloodthorn Flail (discard outlet) and Demonmail Hauberk (sac outlet). Other than that, my "wincons" are limited to cloning opposing creatures, stealing opposing creatures (agent of Treachery) or some beefy fliers (Hexavus, Mirko, Hoarding Broodlord etc). Let me know if you come up with any other good wincons.

The wincon with Agatha's Soul Cauldron you're looking for is Mirror-Mad Phantasm and Thassa's Oracle. You just need to get Mirko's power to 2, which shouldn't be hard between Cauldron, a few surveil cards and fetchlands finding Undercity Sewers. I dont think you need to lean into counters (proliferate or surveil) much with this commander; just look to fill your graveyard with zero power creatures and you can start getting value off Mirko as soon as turn 3 with a discard outlet on turn 1 or 2. Good targets are clones, mana dorks and looters. You dont need to be getting an insane 6+mv target to make Mirko good. Reanimating a 2-4cmc creature every turn is already way better than having "draw a card every turn" stapled onto a commander, which as we all know is already good enough.

@@mugshotmoose Not for the combo list with Agatha's Soul Cauldron and Mirror-Mad Phantasm. My playgroup is too casual/low powered for a deck like that. I do have a really fun list that doesn't use surveil very much though; just a ton of zero power creatures to reanimate. The wincons are a little lacking, just Gray Merchant of Asphodel and cloning it or combat with some beefed up fliers, but that is enough for my playgroup. If you want that list I can send a moxfield link.

Personally i was thinking of going with a sac/edict/aristocrats theme for the mean version. Repeatedly recur creatures like fleshbag marauder, plaguecrafter, etc, have stuff like Zulaport Cutthroat for drain and gain, and edict effects like butcher of malikir.
