I remember doing this to a young boy and he actually popped out his bowarm collar bone (sternum side) each time he did proper alignment. He had larger than normal upper and lower arms length difference causing this. Worked around it until his growth solved it. He shot very well during, even made national youth team.

Excellent instruction, thank you, thank you, clear delivery and super valuable content as always :) A few times in the video you said “you can get into alignment without increasing your draw length”. I’m curious whether you were inferring that increasing one’s draw length via this route would be a “false” increase I.e. problematic, perhaps that might enough someone to stretch beyond a sensible draw length and cause other problems, or in the scenario where someone has plenty of arrow left, can move their clicker, and can comfortably pull the slightly increased resultant draw weight, would it be better to both be in excellent alignment and lengthen their draw length? Best wishes and thanks v much for any further insight you’re able to offer.

Thanks Jake, I have been wondering about this lately. Question: Shouldn't your draw length be determined by where you naturally reach maximum scapula motion when "fully aligned and expanded" rather than having some desired draw length determine how to "compensate" with your shoulder rotation?

I think you are dealing with target panic. If you can’t anchor before releasing because you cannot control it, that’s target panic. If it’s a physical thing that you cannot physically anchor that’s another issue and I have several videos on how to find your anchor on the channel

What has really helped me with target panic were two drills. The first focuses on aiming, where you perform your entire shot cycle with the express intention of NOT releasing. Instead, hold your aim on target at full draw for as long as you can. I typically release after 30 seconds max. The second is just blank bale shooting with the focus your release. It didn't completely remove target panic, but it helped me to break down my shot cycle and work on the weaker bits. That definitely helped improve my confidence and focus at the range.

Imagine i would make a tool with my 3d printer which is just like your tool except it has a grip holder where you can put your own grip on the holder. It would make it much better because you use your actual grip that you use for shooting.
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 11 ай бұрын
I personally don’t like that, one needs to learn the structure of a proper grip. If you rely on a grip to put your hand in the correct position, you won’t know where optimal or realize a change in position is before it’s too late. Plus the grip won’t be locked in space like it is on a bow, so you can freely torque it in all directions.

The problem I have is achieving alignment using barebow. I can do it with an olympic-type anchor, but not with a barebow anchor unless I want to hit my nose. I have an intermediate barebow anchor, not a high one. I don't like hitting my nose. Is this just a lack of neck flexibility? Or is this a limitation of a barebow anchor?
@davidegirardi
@davidegirardi 11 ай бұрын
I had this problem and I solved it by making sure I wasn't pressing my fingers toward the face at full draw. Pressing your hand in for a solid anchor is not about pressing your fingers too. Another thing was working on the basics: a soft release by relaxing the fingers.

So I re-watched Jake's "My barebow anchor explained" and it looks like the barebow anchor is the issue if you don't want to wear tape on your nose. Answers my question. I do find that re-watching the videos provides additional AHA! moments I missed the first (few) times. And one more reason for not anchoring on the eyetooth? I don't like the look. Really, there are almost as many barebow anchors as barebow archers and many of them seem to work pretty well. I do like watching the Lancaster 2023 finals to see anchors, follow-throughs, equipment, etc.

@@rick1774 The anchor point cannot be arbitrary (like the corner of the mouth) but should come from what works with your body. I anchor under my jawbone on a specific point because that's where I can get into alignment. IIRC this video has a good strategy to find your physiological anchor point kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKOWd2xsoNapb80

Yes, my limbs were replaced by Hoyt. If you have any gap between the plastic piece and the limb at all, it’s defective and warrantee-able. Also keep an eye on the base of the limb for what looks like delamination.
