Thank you so incredibly much for all your kind comments. It really does mean so much to read them. Just a shame that YT only deems it appropriate to suggest one of my videos when I announce I'm packing it in! I will reply to you all.

I posted a firm but fair comment, but genuinely seen this loads with other creators so just take a break, consider what your fans want and like, and as long as you show passion and consistency, you’ll have a captive audience. Yes it’s hard putting out regular, consistent content, but like any good channel, you have a solid core. You. Play to your strengths and ignore the algorithm.

Sorry to hear of your YT demise. But hey, hope you didn't get made redundant (or hope you did, as that can sometimes be a massive blessing in disguise). One other thing... you have no ear lobes! What?! Call yourself British. Haha.

That's a shame. We'll miss your regular little insights. ☹️ I'm glad you'll still do the occasional video when you feel more motivated. Very sorry to hear about the job uncertainty. ☹️ KZbin does seem to be making it harder for the smaller channels. They're going to get a nasty shock if they think fewer, bigger channels are the way ahead. Lots of us watch just to see the smaller, intimate channels and aren't interested in the "mainstream".

Sort of reassuring you will not be gone completely. Now is as good as a time to share that over the years it felt like a friendship :) I would love to hear you talk about planned obsolence, or the trade-offs between longevity and “green” - environmental considerations.

I've always appreciated your honesty and dry humor. I will continue to watch whatever you upload whenever you upload it. If you do take a vacation, maybe consider doing a video tour of where ever you go, I remember how you did a city walk through during covid and for someone who hasn't traveled much outside of the US, it was nice to see places I'll probably never get a chance to visit and I found it relaxing. I personally am not a fan of short form content as I have an attention span longer than a gnats but that's just me. 😀

I hear you man. I'm doing a full time job and trying to run my KZbin channel. At the start of my journey it almost cost me my marriage as I was finishing my normal job then sitting on PC almost every night editing KZbin videos. And after a few years of that it is exhausting. And probably like you my channel grew rapidly and now it's levelling out and my new videos take years to get traction so it is frustrating spending days on a video and you upload it and nothing happens! I've been made redundant 4 or 5 times now in my life and every one teaches me a valuable lesson, you gotta look after yourself! My last redundancy I was so angry, really really angry but it made me adamant I'd look after myself from now on. Take a rest and just upload when you feel like it, having a schedule is tiring. Take care. Lurgs

I think there's a bit of intrigue about the British lifestyle. I think videos of you going to stores, parks, events, cemeteries, theaters...etc. would probably do well. There's a lot of history to learn about in the UK and it would probably do well :) Thanks for all the past uploads 🖖

It's pretty clear to see why many believe YT is only interested in the successul channels for their advert revenue. After 10 years, my own music channel only has about 300 subs. Sure I did the thumbnail thing, asking for "likes and subs" in the vids etc but for reasons only known to YT, the impressions rate is still low and content creators can't change that. If people don't see my vids, they can't click on them. Good luck Jake. Posting vids on the things you enjoy is the way to go. If they're a YT success all the better but that's a bonus. If you enjoy what you are doing (as I enjoy making my music vids), it's all good! Take care! :)

I'll be here with many others to watch your videos, regardless of how sporadic your uploads become. Do what makes you happy... Then come back here smash it! I worked as creative director and editor for a youtuber with over 350,000 subscribers. They were struggling at the time and employed me to change the direction of their channel. We were clearing 5,000 views in the first 2 days of each upload, then they just stagnated and died at around 6-7,000 views within 2 months. They started to sort of blame me for the problem (which existed before I worked for them) so I left. It's a ruthless place and I wish I knew of a possible solution or course of action for you to take, but I'm really not as qualified as I once thought I was.

Dr. Jake, I am in the United States and would love hear more about life in the UK, and I have been there several times. I just spent about 10 hours watching videos showing the life of sailors and officers aboard one of your high-tech Military Destroyers, and I would watch more if they put them out. From you, I would love to hear more about your major London Tourist Attractions. Being a PHD in Mathematics, how about your views on the incredible decryption efforts and technologies your Country did for the allies during WWII? Also, though I am not necessarily one of them, many here in the U.S. would like to hear about the local views (including yours) on the Royal Family. Just some ideas, along with the 'Like' I just clicked on for you.

You've done pretty well for the average KZbinr. I don't know if you see the videos I put out but my format is extremely time consuming and I've had to drop frequency since the summer as I've had family health issues to deal with, and the opportunity to sit and edit is much less. So life gets in the way, and that's fine because after all, YOLO. ❤️

I used to see your videos on a regular basis but you dropped off my recommended list until today's video. Mind you that I am retired and watch about 4 hours cumulatively throughout the day, so I doubt that I didn't just miss seeing you. Rather I had to directly go visit your channel from time to time to find your most current videos. As I think about it, I believe your channel fell off the radar, for me at least, sometime after your "What do I earn with 65K subs" video. Do you think that could that have contributed to your going into stealth mode by the KZbin algorithm? I hope not. Regardless, best wishes and I hope you find your way again, as your were a breath of fine British air we all need to breathe in from time to time. Thank you for sharing you thoughts, time and ideas with us.

I'm not going to unsubscribe just because you no longer upload every week, so I'll still see your content. FWIW I don't understand the "Didn't see your Video on my Subs list", I've never noticed a missed video (i.e. if I look at a channel I'm Sub'd to I have definitely seen every single video). So I wonder what the issue is there - I'm watching on PC, not phone, and I look in the Subscriptions section, and I scroll down to where I find they are "watched". Everything above-the-line is new and I pick-and-choose which to watch. Its been rare that your Subject hasn't encouraged me to watch yours :)

I had surgery today Jake, nothing serious but one thing that took my mind off it was the thought of a new video from you. You make more of a difference than you know but after uploading videos myself for over 15 years (not on this channel) I know it can be tough. Taking a break has always resulted in me getting more success so don't worry about stepping away from it all for a bit. Do the things you enjoy, do them with passion, and the audience will be there. It has nothing to do with KZbin and everything to do with the creator. I follow literally hundreds of channels, and those that succeed just stick to their formula for success that’s done them proud for years, and will continue to do so. Garbage in, garbage out. Put the effort in, get the rewards out. All you needed to do is listen to what your fans wanted, which to be honest is lego reviews and stuff like that. If that’s not your passion, that’s the reason to quit, not because KZbin and its viewers “changed”. Posting videos of how much you make from KZbin and social media and whatnot is channel suicide. Nobody gives a shit, and it just puts people off. Best of luck doc, no doubt see you around soon 😉

You could talk about the weather or vent about traffic and I'd watch. As long as your heart's in it. Talk about whatever, whenever you have something that you really want to share.

What you should do...is what it sounds like you are going to do. Whatever makes you happy and you have fun doing. That's what I do with KZbin. I don't get many views because I make videos about different topics. But some of them get found by people searching for the specific topics and they help people and we chat a bit. That's it. I think if you want to make money at KZbin then it's a full time job. And that's obviously going to be less fun.

This is fascinating because I only came to check your channel because I am sick and tired of random stuff I am not interested in appearing on my home page. All the while I don't see latest videos from channels I have subscribed to. So basically I was just going systematically through my subscriptions and checking them.

How about timelapse videos of the bathroom renovations. Entire channels are built on that type of stuff. Anyway, I'm pleased that you're not disappearing altogether and hope that your current worries get sorted soon.

I can't think of a more enjoyable chap to watch doing a van life video. Live in a van and cruise the world man👍😀 You can't start and end your journey on the sofa...

I used to watch weekly but due to some content (home improvements, tech reviews) I watch monthly. Agree to just upload monthly rather than stop completely so I can still have a catch up with you.
