:)) just bought it now. I talked with them and they say it has no IP class for rain or water... hmm, now I got a bit worried, I live in Sweden and it has been minus 18 Celsius and snowing every day... how will this handle snow and high moisture? - any third party that made a rainproof bag to film from for the Pocket 3?

Alright! @@JakeSloan do you know if anyone made a holder to place it on ones bicycle? it would be neat to ride around town and talk through the mic it comes with in this creator kit and show people my city and talk about memories and what my country used to be.. like a vlog of Generations of Scandinavia.. we got so much archive-free film here in Sweden in our public television record to compare every block with, they were like obsessed with filming everything when Stockholm was built up at the end of the 1800s .. so would be interesting to film it with the Osmo pocket and then in juxtaposition cut in old film and mix it up in an interesting way of how things changed... thanks for getting back!

Great video! Having background in the film industry (I used to be a professional DP many years ago) and now coming back to it for the fun of it. I just purchased the Osmo pocket 3, and it's insane - 10 years ago you wouldn't get this quality with super expensive pro video gear. Now you get it for fraction of the price. Just anecdotal note - It's also funny to see how perception changes. Many of the classic tips you showcase on the video don't necessarily mean anything nowadays for modern content consumers. i.e - motion blur (many ppl like that sharp HD look of no motion blur - even for cinematic), Color-grading/ Lut (ppl love that crunch realistic tone that comes with that camera without the log mode) etc.

Hi Jake - Can you please explain a bit about when to use "Continuous" focus vs "Single" focus mode on Osmo Pocket 3? I wanted to take videos when I visit any big cities. Not vlogging but just wanted to record the beauty of the city and its infrastructure. But not sure what focus mode to choose. Maybe if you could explain in what situations should we use continuous or single focus mode on OP3 with examples, that would be great. Thanks!
@JakeSloan2 ай бұрын
I always use continuous. single would be if you want to keep something in the foreground out of focus as you move around it to reveal what is on the other side. You would need to start the recording with it focused on the far thing then go behind the foreground item and come back out to reveal.

I shoot state and national parks. Camping, weather car style or backpacking, and showcasing the various trails that will be at those areas. Does the pocket 3 handle that? Do I need to also have my iPhone 15 pro in case the weather conditions change? PS: new DJI 2 wireless is working fantastic with the small pocket 3 gimbal in Bluetooth because both are DJI products. So… that makes me consider using the pocket 3 with mics over using an iPhone and the new mics. Please and thank you for your work. ❤

you make sure each shot is just shot with the exposure in mind. set the exposure for the most important part of the shot (usually near the end of the shot) and film the entire thing that way. Alternatively you can just use auto exposure. it actually does do a very good job 😉

fortunately there are some great options out there for you!

I mean it’s not an action cam so not meant to be waterproof lol. Plus you won’t get as good footage from a action cam

No gimbal is waterproof

it's cool but it's not mind blowing quality footage that it captures at the end of the day

What do you expect from a camera this size? Story over image quality will always win at the end of the day

@8:30 Shooting into the Sun is definitely not a good idea. For one thing it looks cliche, and secondly, it never has been considered to be sound photographic practice. If you want to make someone stand out from the background - particularly a bright background, then you add supplemental lighting to the subject's face, which makes them stand out from the background, plus, it looks much better than trying to hallow someone out against the greatest light source in our Galaxy ! One doesn't even require supplemental lighting to make this shot work. You can use a white or silver covered reflective material in a small card about the same size as a regular piece of paper. @ 8:55: NEVER use an effects filter with frontal lighting ! Always use rear angled lighting with the Sun over your shoulder left or right.

Wow I guess I’m doing almost everything wrong… this is not for photography it’s for video which is very different. Also nobody hauls around reflectors and lighting for vlogging on a pocket 3… I do agree for photo work reflectors and not backlighting in some situations makes sense and can help to shape the light in beautiful ways.

@@JakeSloan No. You're doing everything right except those two points I referred to. Video and photography is the same thing - Some take one image at a time and you take 60 images a second. So what ? These images you take are still images, you're just taking way more of them than a still photographer. No biggie. The OSMO Pocket 3 is a beast ! 👍 I'm still rockin my OG OSMO Pocket, and it works perfectly, even after dropping it hard, and soaking it in driving rain !👀 I'm saving up my extra shekels to grab a creator combo OSMO Pocket # 3 and rock on with that soon 👌😇.

CAUTION: 30, 50 or 60 fps is not "cinematic video" It's shit (sorry). You must recorded in 24 (TWENTY FOUR!) fps. O N L Y in 24fps. 😊 50fps it's like cheap VHS. No "magic LUTes" will help to make it cinematic filmlook. 🤣

60fps when slowed to match a 24fps or 30fps timeline becomes 24 or 30. You clearly missed much of the point of the video. cheers

@@JakeSloan But your (this) video not looking like cinematic. 🤭 Top much fps. ☺️ Cheers!
