Lume Cube Panel Mini Review: A Nearly Perfect LED Panel

I think every creator should have a small portable battery powered light in their camera bag at all times. This is where the Lume Cube Panel Mini comes in a nearly perfect package for creators. It's a small, portable, battery powered LED panel with a high CRI and a lot of output power. This might be the best small on camera LED panel on the market for under $100.00 right now. It has plenty of output to light a lot of space the battery lasts a long time even on full brightness and you get great diffusion with the included diffuser. After testing this light out for the last couple weeks I can safely say it's a great choice for solo creators on the go who need a little light in many different scenarios but also want to keep size and weight down.

Looks like a nice addition to your camera bag. I use Lumecube 2.0, Aputure Al-M9 and the Aputure MC RGB which are great little lights too. Love the size of that panel though! Watch out for the wildlife Jake.

Thanks Mark! yeah I have the AL-M9 too and this is improved from that in that you don't need gels etc to match the color plus the battery lasts quite a bit longer. Cheers!

Thanks for your review. Even this affordable light is out of my budget right now, but it’s good to know what to get first once the money’s coming in again. Small thing but the charging cable is usb-A (host) to usb-C (peripheral), not usb-C to usb-A, for any budget-conscious folks who only have old gear that provides usb-A charging

Your reviews are very helpful! Water resistance aside, how do the key use cases overlap/diverge for Lume Cube 2.0 vs. Panel (Mini) in your view? My main use is general purpose and indoor/outdoor macro use -- photographic. Thanks.

The biggest asset of the panel over the lumecube 2.0 is the bicolor option and I feel its a bit better for macro since its a larger light surface and with the diffuser its def a bit more diffuse lightning than the Lumecube 2.0. So advantage is less you have to carry around to get the same or better results imo

I just got it and when I attach it to the top of my camera it looks bad due to the shadows of the lens. Any tips?

Wow really? I haven't had that problem. I would try and use a small friction arm to move the light higher up so it is further away from the lens and gets rid of the shadow

These are great little lights. I bought one to replace the Anton Bauer Ultralight 2 I've had on my camera for the better part of twenty years. I'm curious about what that bunker thing was that you went into. Some sort of military thing?

Depends on your use. If you do a lot of outdoor stuff or poor weather stuff then def the cube. I did a review of if on my channel too. If you don't do lots of bad weather stuff then the panel is excellent. Thanks for being part of the channel! Cheers

To get the best results from the Lumecube 2.0 you may want to get the diffusion bulb for when you film yourself but test it out with the included diffusion first and see how. you like it. You have some really cool videos on your channel! Great stuff
