I sometimes have trouble with distractions, over planning, and over thinking. Considering that I believe myself to be a very logical thinker, my life is not always very well structured. I admire people who appear to have well structured lives. I think I need to work on a bit of self optimization. I need to work on creating just enough structure, and then making peace with the remaining dynamic forces in my life. When Jake mentioned standing on the tent to clean it I thought it was just a random notion that came to him. I had not noticed the silhouette of the tent cleaners upon first viewing. As always, I enjoyed the time lapses. Cloud motion is quite pleasant to look at. I didn't miss most of my schools upon transition, except for high school. By the end I had formed some great friendships and all my friends were dispersing to far off colleges. As part of that I lost the first person that I truly fell in love with. I was in a bad place for a very long time. For this and other reasons I became very depressed and dropped out of college. It was rough for a while, but most things eventually worked out for me over time. I've built a comfortable and mostly fulfilling life for myself with aspirations toward constant improvement. Each day is a new canvas. :) I am very glad that I got to follow along on the conclusion of Jakes present academic experience. Adapting to the real world will require some level of adjustment. I presume that most attendees of top universities have a strong work ethic and attraction toward acheievement. It will be interesting to see how Jake adapts to potentially needing to interface more often with people who have different sensibilities. As a programmer, I tend to be a very logically oriented person in most facets of my life. Working with fuzzy people can be a special kind of agony for me when I need detailed information. I've learned that I have to adapt my communication style with some kinds of people and employ special techniques to improve the probability of getting the kind of answer I am looking for.

Im in the same situation you were. I am in year 10 and i have just (4 hours ago) finished my first ever gcse exam which was core science. I used to hate school up untill the end of year 9 when i got a second job and was working before and after school. I realised that when im 21/22 and i finish uni thats what ill be doing all day everyday, which made me realise how good school is!

Good luck with your dissertation, Jake. Thanks for sharing your tips and taking the time to vlog. I'm doing end of semester exams right now for my course at university, my last one is for matlab the coming Wednesday. I liked your perspective on enjoying the time spent at uni, I've been trying to do the same the past few months and that shift has made everything a much more pleasant experience, despite the stressful assessments.

Love the video! I have a question, I was wondering how much you think that reputation matters when choosing a uni? I'm an American and I got into UC Berkeley, which has one of the best reputations in the world for my subject, but then I also have an offer to study at the University of Sheffield, which is also an amazing opportunity to get to be an undergraduate in a foreign country and I can do lots of traveling. How would you make a decision, or do you have any insights as to which you would pick?

ExplosiveLemonz Depending on how your brain works. When you open your exam paper, quickly skim read the entire paper. So when you start from question 1 your brain knows what do expect for the rest of the paper. This mite allow you to discover answers that you didn't know the answer for.since it gives you more time to think about the questions. *Yes this does sound crazy!!!*
