Learned a few things in this video! Thanks man! Thought the group buttons were for assigning fx on/off in bulk for some reason. Also never thought of either creating my own loop and importing it in and slicing it within, was painstakingly importing individual samples this whole time of pre-chopped loops. Used the start knobs for glitching effects though :D.

Hi, I'm thinking about getting the Korg Gadget 2, it's on the app store at £39.99 for the full version but info on exactly what you get for that is a bit ambiguous. Exactly how many of the listed gadgets do you get when you buy the full version and how much in app purchase is required? Also... can I open it in AUM so I can add other apps and effects into the mix? Your help would be much appreciated. Cheers Gary

Hi, does Bilbao have “16 levels” like an MPC? Where a sample in 1 pad is pitched across all the pads? Is there a way to do this in Gadget?
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Mark McKay Unfortunately no, neither Bilbao or Abu Dhabi have that ability. Something I'm still hoping that KORG will introduce in the future.

Hello Jakob, sorry for replying to an old video. I’m trying to get Bilbao in sync between iOS and desktop with usersamples. It works between phone and iPad but opening a project with Bilbao on desktop doesn’t place the user samples. The original usersample folder is copied from desktop gadget to iOS devices.. made a beat that I want to finish on desktop but it doesn’t open the usersamples. Can you point me in a direction to fix this?

I hope so I need that, beathawk does it with a touch of a button, pad mode/keyboard mode and I hope they are working on a module of the korg trinity, I actually own that and those sounds are better then the triton in my opinion @ Jakob haq

Cool video. Great accent! Couple of questions. When you repitch a sample is there any way of keeping the tempo the same ? Like flex time in logic or melodyne etc. And is it possible to run impc alongside gadget and include it in a song track?
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+luke williams Thank you! =D regarding Bilbao and sampling. There is no time-stretch with pitch correction abilities inside Bilbao. It's basically just a pitch so tempo will not be maintained when pitching. I usually use Blocs Wave for all my time-stretch/pitch correction needs and export to other apps through it. I also sometimes use Cubasis for doing the same thing.

I really need to write to Korg regarding Bilbao. The max sample length is just, hold yourself...5 seconds! You can't put, for ex., a 16 bar sample into it, that's really bad, should be at least 16 bars @ 120 bpm to leave enough freedom. Besides the attack issue (not available in a sampler???) it's almost impossible to set the knobs back to, for ex. 0 (Zero) had a hard time yesterday with it. Gave back Abu Dhabi yesterday, for this I rather use Samplr with Alexandernauts link to midi ;-)

Wouldn't a fade out feature at the end of the sample avoid the click your speaking about like in a DAW? Good video.
@JakobHaq8 жыл бұрын
Only when the player reaches the end. When your triggering stuff quickly it klick say the beginning at the sample. A softer attack would most likely eliminate this.
@ej1mshan8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. A fade out works ok on the DAW because the sample can be on different tracks. Is Bibao included in the new update?

Hi. Thanks for the video. I’m trying to upload some of my sample packs to use with Gadget. I just installed Audio Share and uploaded some. Then I can get samples into Gadget with Zurich, which seems fine for vocals, risers, etc., but not really for drum samples. Ideally I’d like to import these into Bilboa but it just has iTunes and Dropbox import options. Do you know my best options for resolving this? I would happily use iTunes but I can’t work out how to do it. Thanks for the help.
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
Christopher Conlon hello! 😊 what version of Gadget are you using? This video is a bit old and outdated because KORG Gadget got full support for Audio Share Audio/sample import back in march 2017. Your Gadget version might need an update.

Hi mate. I have another question if you don't mind. How do I go about setting up my iPad with Korg Gadget to a midi keyboard? Can I do that then route it into Ableton Live, then record the gadgets in with my tracks? I have a midi Nektar Impact keyboard. This doesn't have midi ins or outs, just the USB power socket at the back, I presume this would be no good? I do have an Access Virus To. This has midi ins/outs/through, and seems as though you can put it in midi mode, but my knowledge of the TI is very limited. I also have NI Maschine with a midi option there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris

Great video, thanks. Was on the fence about buying Bilbao but you convinced me, especially now that I see how easy it is to import samples (as an Android user, being able to just drag and drop files into the phone, I never know ahead of time if it's possible on an iOS device). Anyway, what's the app you are using at the end playing the "Weekend" beat? And is that a separate app doing the toolbar thing on the left?
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+lose3111 Thank you! I'm happy you found the video useful! That other app is Figure by Allihoopa. It's free so go download it now! 😉 I've got both Gadget and Figure loaded in Audiobus and the toolbar helps when one needs to switch between apps or turn play/stop/recording functions of.

I'm looking to cut the beginning part to a song I have in iTunes. Is Bilbao what I need to cut the intro and use that piece as a sample?
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+Brandon Cota This is not the type of thing you're looking for. Bilbao is a sampler plugin for KORG Gadget and isn't equipped to edit samples like that. You need an audio editor like " TwistedWave audio editor " or " Hokusai Audio Editor ".
@DePrepper7 жыл бұрын
Hello, is your soundcloud the best place to listen to your music?
@JakobHaq7 жыл бұрын
+DePrepper Actually no. The fact is that most recent music is right here on this channel in the form of live performances videos and as music inside my tutorials, reviews etc. I haven't made an album in ages. Since I started making videos I put all my time into that instead of album work. I have an album in progress..but it's extremely slow work since I prioritise the channel content first.

I love your videos but don't you think this takes away from the creative process? Just my thought. I find that blocs and Impc work better with samples than Bilbao.
@JakobHaq8 жыл бұрын
+Djwil Mer That's a fair question, thanks for asking. Blocs Wave is an incredibly fast sampler to work with in my opinion. When it comes to creative processes, there aren't many others that do stuff quite like Blocs. However, this episode was a direct response to the live video I did in where I'm playing Bilbao using an iRig pads controller. This is something you cannot do with blocs wave. The whole playing "thing" is also part of a creative process for me. Now iMPC Pro on the other side, works with a multitude of midi controllers. The reason why I chose Bilbao for my performance is that I just prefer working inside KORG Gadget. Gadget has most of the tools I usually reach for in terms of sound generators. Also, I can't put my finger on it but for me, Gadget has a type of environment that I get lots of inspiration from. This leads to me being more creative. So between Bilbao and iMPC, it's just a matter of personal preferences.
