To kick off my Asia trip of 2023, I flew JAL's 777 Sky Suite business class from Los Angeles to Tokyo. This has got to be one of the most private and most leg-room business class seats!

The Apex Suite Window Seat is my opinion, the Best Business Class bar none. Flew it on Korean Air 747-8 Upper Deck and it was Perfection.

Gotta love the apex suites on JAL. The fact that the window seats have a private walkway without disturbing your neighbour is such a thoughtful touch. Excellent review as always!

Brilliant trip report. Beautiful in flight, taxi, landing and take-off views wonderfully captured by your great cinematographic and editing skills. JAL seems like a very good airline. Would love to try those Apex suites one day. Is JAL a ‘windows firmly shut in flight’ airline like Korean and Cathay? How were you able to get the in-flight shots?

Thanks so much! I actually can't recall them asking me to shut the window blinds. Also the layout of the apex seats helps block a lot of the window light from disturbing other passengers, so I was able to keep the shades open slightly to get in-flight footage.

I did the reverse of yours exactly 3 months before you - JL16, HND-LAX, on your sister plane (yours was JA739J, mine JA738J) but on economy class. Had a great time too onboard JAL. Nice vid as always!

Thanks for sharing this nicely made trip report. I must say that the approach into Tokio was the nicest I've ever seen on a footage that was excellent in both, angle and quality. Thank you for those glorious shots! 👍👍👍 You've been on a 777 still equiped with the last hard product which I know myself from previous flights with JAL. I have lately had the pleasure to experience their newest seats and IFE "Magic VI" onboard their Airbus A350 in both - Premium Economy and Business Class, and I was thrilled by the intense upgrade this all added to their fleet on premium comfort. The new IFE screens are crystalclear and very responsive, Magic VI runs fast and movies come in a much higher quality. I truly appreciate the overall brilliant JAL service, their premium quality catering and hospitality. JAL became one of my Top-3 Airlines to fly with and my always first choice to Japan. Never mind... the older 777's still offer a great product and JAL worth the 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars!

Spectacular business class product! Also, I've been to that oneworld lounge at LAX Bradley and I prefer it over the Flagship Lounge at T4. Which is why I enjoy having status with oneworld; I can enjoy lounges like that in LA even if I'm only flying to Phoenix LOL! - Red

Welcome to Japan Alvin. Another great trip report. I flew JAL biz twice this year but also had the same feeling about the meal quality. It was okay but not amazing. And the IFE system is old and needs update for sure.

Both informative and beautifully shot and produced. As you say the legroom is pretty unrivalled despite other shortfalls. I wonder how much better the food is flying in the opposite direction...
