It feels like it was only yesterday where my son played with his toys in his cradle, back then I always wanted to do a great job of raising him. It's been like 20 years now and he even finished his military service and he was supposed to go back to school but he didn't. Instead, he decided to have an experience of running his own small business for one year. they did their best to raise their children 약간 어색하게 들릴수가 있는데 이유는 vs 를 두고 최선을 했다 같이 들릴수 있기 때문입니다. did their best 했는데 실패했을 경우, raise가 되지 않았다? 이런게 해석이 될수있기 때문입니다. do a good job of raising 반면 이렇게 말하면 아이들을 키우는데 good job vs bad job 차의를 두고 말아는 것으로, 맞게 해석이 됩니다.

우연히 예전 선생님 "잘 활용하다" 강의를 보다가 강의 끝에 명언(예전에 그런 좋은 말씀들을 올려주시던 때가 있었네요^^)이 있어 함 영작해봤습니다. 아이가 운다고 원하는 것을 주는 것은 잘못 키우는 것이라면 우리가 원하는 것을 못 가졌다고 불평하는 것은 잘 못 사는 것이다. If you give your baby what (s)he wants right away just because (s)he cries, you're not doing a good job as a parent. Similarly, if you complain about(over) not having what you want, it shows thay you're not doing a good job leading your life. 뭔가 더 함축적으로 말하면 좋으련만 제 짧은 영어로는 저렇게 길게밖에 표현이 안되네요^^ 혹시 이거 보시는 분 더 좋은 표현 알려주신다면 감사하겠습니다❤
