My version of a proper punishment: - Manfred resigns - Take away title (meaning that no one won the 2017 WS) - Melt the rings - Altuve, Correa, Bregman, etc gives up MVP's and other awards (meaning on one wins AL MVP or other awards in 2017) - Alex Cora, Carlos Beltran, and AJ Hinch blackballed - Delay the replay in the dugout by 20 seconds - Routine inspections by officials to make sure that no one is cheating - And finally, the Astros loss their signing bonus they got.

@Mike Carter The Patriots never got real time information on what play was being run by the opposition, like being told when a defense is blitzing or when the offense is going to run a draw play or a crossing pattern. That would have been equivalent to the Astros' cheating.

It's not surprising that the Astros have taken this stance. They have been enabled by the commissioner. If some of them received year long or indefinite suspensions along with being stripped of their title we would see a more humble and remorseful attitude.

The commissioner could have done BOTH (give the players immunity for their testimony AND vacated the 2017 championship), but did not have the courage (and/or foresight) to make the right call. The bottom line here is...he blew it.
