Kurt Schilling hit the nail on the head the other day when he tried to explain just how affective knowing what pitch is coming can be. For example pitchers throw a slider for a ball about 90% of the time so if you know when the sliders are coming you'll know when not to swing and get ahead in the count. If you get ahead in the count the likelihood the pitcher will throw a fastball for a strike increases. If you want to see if Altuve or others cheated, just look at how many times they laid off the slider.

Sliders are hittable if you know they are comming. Its the uncertainty that affect the ability to time the pitch, thats what makes a changeup hard to hit too. If a pitcher threw a changeup every pitch, he would be crushed. Its when a picher mixes speeds and location to mentally challange the batter that makes hitting in MLB difficult.

After the strike in 1994 many fans boycotted game. After that baseball turned a blind eye to it with Sosa and Mcguires homerun battle because it brought people back. And you have had a few pitchers say they'd rather face a hitter on steroids than a hitter who knows what pitch is coming The problem with the astros is that the owner and players press conference was handled so poorly. Plus the fact that no player was suspended. I think that's what really is pissing people off, especially the players. If they were suspended I don't think we would still be talking about it as much. That being said I'm still looking forward to the season. I think it's going to be interesting.

Astros did not cheat. In the real world. The Houston Astros owe no one any apologies. It is the responsibility of the team sending the signs to make sure that no one is able to intercept the sign and more importantly that if the sign is intercepted that it is not decipherable. In the military signs are transmitted all the time in the clear, (meaning that others may be able to intercept the signs), the real responsibility is denying the enemy the capability of translating the sign into useful information. If it is discovered that the enemy has been able to decipher the intercepted sign, the operator sending the signed is demoted and sentenced to the brig or stockade, relieved for cause and discharged from the military with a Dishonorable Discharge. I think there should be a Congressional investigation. I would love for Jose Altuve, Breggman, Crane, just to name a few to testify under oath in front of a Congressional committee who is not going to be the slightest bit sympathetic. And they would have to testify under penalty of perjury. I don't know how many people under these circumstances would be willing to sacrifice potential jail time for covering up this scandal.

In the case of the MLB 2017 WS, "Rules" were not adhered to and Jim Crane admitted the "rules" were not followed, so logically the Astros forfeit their title and the championship technically is vacated.

I’m wondering if the lack of contrition is because they think or are aware of a lot of the teams using similar ways to steal signs. I mean they aren’t even acting embarrassed. The only reason I can think of that anyone would behave in that manner is if they felt like they were taking the fall for something everyone is doing. Now I wouldn’t think that using technology is a league wide issue but it’s the only thing I can think of that Astros would act like this other than being just the worst kind of arrogant. Just a thought.

People show remorse BEFORE a punishment or sentencing in the hope to get a lighter penalty. The Astros ' players were given No Punishment so they have no incentive to show remorse and indeed they have not.
