In this VladTV Flashback from 2019, former NBA star and current analyst Jalen Rose recounted the epic argument with Skip Bayless on ESPN. Jalen called out Skip for his scathing criticism of professional basketball players but could not do the same things as those he criticized. He even did some research on Skip's less-than-impressive high school playing career.

You are right Daniel. If the best former and present-day players spoke out against this kind of sports journalism, then a lot of this would've been nipped in the bud a long time ago. Jordan. Bird. Magic. Lebron. Curry. But the fact that they don't say anything empowers the negative coverage players receive. The kind of opinions that seem to go on and on, day after day, the singling a player out just because you don't agree how they may handle their business, whether its on their respective field of play, or in some cases, their personal lives. Reporting on some issue is one thing, dragging it out over an extended period of time as if you're trying to indict somebody is a bit extreme. My advice gentlemen and ladies of sports media, find your lane and stay in it. You're neither a prosecuting attorney, nor a comedian, nor psychologist, nor social scientist. Lane people, know your lane!!!

Vlad is showing this because of the viral video of Skip and Shannon going off because of a Tom Brady topic and before, Baker Mayfield. Skip was flat out for calling Shannon jealous of Brady when Shannon is in the Hall of Fame, 8 Pro Bowls and 3 Super Bowls. Personally, Shannon showed great restraint like Chris Rock at the Oscars. Like any person who was in Shannon’s shoes, they would have whupped Skip’s ass.

What people have to understand is that Skip's perception of Shannon is absolutely agregious because Shannon played a different position then Brady, Tom never had to run routes, pass block or make tough catches in the clutch. You can't compare Tom and Shannon career wise, so that ALONE makes your assessment invalid. Skip is jealous of Shannon, so he attacked Shannon based on what he perceived to be an opportunity, not because Shannon said something that downplayed Tom's career alltoghether.

Skip Bayless reminds me of that guy who was never good enough to make the team so liked to hang out around the players, eventually winding up with Mgr/flunky position passing out towels, in charge of the Gatorade. He was the butt of all their jokes, cried himself sleep nightly. He wanted to be a player but was only in charge of the refreshments. He grew to eventually hate the jocks that he so wanted to be a part of.

He apologized because he knew he'd crossed a very dangerous line. It's one thing to take a shot at Skip. But to highlight his high school record veered very close to the "You never played so your opinion aint worth s***" line. Whilst it's understandable people might reach this conclusion - the moment you use it on air to attack a sports journalist is the moment all of the man's colleagues cease being on your side and instead jump to Skip. You see - you've gone from attacking the man to attacking the profession (because most journalists never played professional sport either).
