I still think Jiri giving up the belt was the right play. I'm usually on the same side as Joe and in certain ways I still am on this one but I don't think he should have his balls busted for it. Lt heavy is in contention for the most boring division atm. It's heating up but I couldn't name more than a handful of fighters, by comparison to me being able to almost name the entire Lt weight top 10. The Trevor Whitman glove is a joke solution. Bellator has the same gloves and it does nothing to prevent eye pokes. You could 'argue'* that it makes eye pokes happen more often for certain fighters. For example, palms up posting ✋. You post like this (the legal way) and you wear Whitman/bellator gloves and now your fingers are facing the opponent instead of facing up towards the ceiling like they would normally be with palms up. Not to mention, most eye pokes actually occur when the fighter's palm is up, but fingers are pointing towards the other fighter (like Whitman's gloves naturally do). He's obviously just pandering to the "vibe" of his guest. Moreover, the sense of honor that he claims to "get," he actually doesn't understand one iota. Jiri is one of the few remaining fighters (maybe even the only one), let alone humans on earth, who lives by a code that is worth more to him than money or legacy. Him relinquishing his title is about keeping that integrity, just as him saying "good job" to Glover is about honoring the beauty of his craft (MMA). That is one of main reason he fights-to grow and display mastery, so when he sees his opponent display those attributes, it is only natural that he is pleased by it. Guys like Rogan can never understand this because they have a very shallow foundation for existence, finding meaning and comfort in that which is ultimately fleeting (money, fame, adoration, being liked, winning...etc, even humor), whereas Jiri's foundation is rooted in that which doesn't rely on the world around him-something no one can take away from him. Far too many men today sacrifice their principle for a crown; Jiri did the exact opposite.

Damn joe. Always respected your podcast and love you as a person and commentator. But saying it’s weird, how someone lives there life and how he trains makes him a odd duck ? How? I guess being a fighter and a person who knows fighting is different
