My 3 shoe ins are easily Costa Rica Panama Jamaica My two teams to the playoffs, as hopeful as I am, are Haiti and Dominican Republic. The reality: Jamaica, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Trinidad, Curaçao, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Suriname, and Dominican Republic all have a legit chance at making it. Those 12 teams (you could include Cuba in that chance-so 13) are likely to be the final 12 in the final round. It’s how they get split up is what’s going to matter

I hope El Salvador can qualify automatically but I don't see us qualifying over Panama, Costa Rica, and Jamaica. Hopefully they can prove me wrong but we're more likely to end up in the playoff tournament with Honduras

Curacao could be a contender if the additional spots help recruit more Curacaoans who were raised in the Netherlands. Jurgen Locadia and Tahith Chong are possibilities. They have already done a pretty good job at it. That said, they certainly need Room to age well over the next few years as they don't an alternative close to his ability. Jamaica's English diaspora is a blessing and curse. They offer talent and depth, but don't travel well. Some simply have no interest in playing in mid-season international windows. Even when they do, the weather extremes of the region in general and air quality of the Central American road games does them in regularly. They should qualify, but they will need to be able to grind out a win or two in El Salvador, Honduras, or Guatemala (a side I think could probably get to the final stage of qualifying without Canada, Mexico, and US). I also wonder if there is any bounce back possibility to Honduras. Qualifying was a disaster for them, but they have should have the talent to compete with Curacao, Panama, CR, Jamaica, Haiti, Guatemala, and El Salvador in a revamped Octagonal.

Let’s not forget about Honduras. Sure they were really bad in qualifying but they’re normally very competitive, I could see them returning. Panama as well is always a good team, I think they’ll most likely take one of those last 3 spots. Haiti, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago could always surprise people but are on the outside looking in

Jamaica and Costa Rica (Even though Keylor Navas did stop playing for the last named team) normally have the best papers to go to the 3rd round and also to qualify for the World Cup in less than 2 years... When it comes to the remaining teams after the 2nd round it is difficult to say but El Salvador has a good change to make it as well but the same goes for Panama even though Honduras is a tough team which shouldn't be underestimated while teams like Curaçao and Suriname are doing a pretty good job as well and the simple fact that you should always watch out for Trinidad and Tobago along with Guatemala Haïti and the Dominican Republic is also something to focus on so it's anybody's guess on who's gonna proceed to the final stage and after that i'm not sure on who's going to the World Cup + The intercontinental play-offs and who's directly going home without a ticket for the final 48 teams in the bag but if i have to say it purely based on the selections than i would say that it will be El Salvador after all that will be the laughing 3rd while it will be difficult to choose from between Panama Honduras Curaçao and Suriname when it comes to a spot for the intercontinental play-offs considering the last two remaining places for the World Cup... Anyways i guess will just wait and see what happens! 😉

Suriname’s rise is so underrated in this region it’s ridiculous.they have anywhere between 100-150 players in Europe. The second most is the US at 50. The only question is whether the Dual Nationals want to play for The Netherlands or for Suriname. Suriname is easily the regions dark horse this qualifying cycle

Jamaica been a 2 gold cup final, 2015 and 2017 they lost both final to US and Mx at the finals! so I wouldn't say they are the MOST under achiever teams in CONCACAF. you have teams I never saw at the Gold cup final team like Haiti, Guatemala, Trinidad , Honduras and several other teams.. To be clear: 1.For the Central American zone, there are only 3 nations that are still yet to be qualified: Belize, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. Guatemala had the biggest chance, given that their U20 team was also played for the World Cup this year in Indonesia. 2.For the Caribbean zone, I think it might be Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba to qualify. Dominican Republic also had the chance by the same reason as Guatemala.

Guatemala should be mentioned. Their u20 reached the u20 WC and the senior side had a good run at the gold cup. We have pieces in Aaron Herrera, Rubio Rubin, Arquímedes Ordóñez, Nathaniel Méndez Liang, Nicholas Hagen etc and our coach Flaco Teña been doing a great job

The higher probability of qualifying for teams who usually aren't traditional contenders could be a catalyst in recruiting talented dual nationals and bolstering their chances. Dominican Republic could be a dark horse if they're able to incorporate many of their dutch and spanish dual nationals. Real Madrid's Mariano Diaz, Leeds United's Junior Firpo, Nice's Pablo Rosario, Juan Castillo-Familia who plays for Chelsea and many others who play in lower divisions in Spain, Holland, Austria and Italy. Maybe even Kevin Paredes, who is of dominican descent and has been in solid form recently for Wolfsburg. The same goes for Suriname like Herc said. Sheraldo Becker and other dutch-surinamese dual nats, could make them serious contenders for one of the three spots.
