I have met a young couple in Thailand not long ago. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US. We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason. All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

My sister has a friend who is a German. He had the same kind of "brain washed" perspective of China as well. He came to visit my sister in Taiwan last December. They went to Hong Kong, and ShenZheng. He was so surprised(even shocked) to know what he believed was wrong. When I asked him should I go to ShenZeng, he said yes immediately without any hesitation. "It is an amazing and wonderful place.", he said. By the way, he has a p.h.D. and over 50 years old. Imagine with that kind of backgrounds, he could still be brain-washed. Sad. Of course, he isn't anymore now because he has seen China with his own eyes .

The stubborn insanity is what is driving the West to their current decline! If you look at the Chinese, they had the same problem more than a hundred years ago! So many Americans are still living in their own shell is just mind blogging! You still see many Americans commenting that China is a terrible dictatorship country with no freedom & human rights! America is in deep deep sh!t where most Americans knew it, yet their insanity just took over! These are the people who is actually destroying America by living in their own delusion. There were tons of Western KZbinrs & Tik Tokers vids showing the now modernized China & I don't believe most Americans had never watch any of this vids! Or, they just refuse to 'watch' them? Maybe this is just history. The Chinese was once just like the many Americans now. They talked about their 'civilized heavenly empire' while the rest were 'uncivilized barbarians'. They were being trash again and again by foreign powers, yet they never woke up, clinging on to their 'civilized heavenly empire' like little children who refused to let go of their soiled & tattered teddy bears! History is a bItch, they slap those who never learn until generations suffer tremendously! It took the Chinese more than a century to learn this lesson, how long would it take for Americans to learn their lesson?

my local library also claims to have over 200k books. It's not that big or visually good but it serve the purpose of a library ever since I grew up. It would be awesome if China builded this library to house more then 200m books and make it the biggest in the world instead of relying on the visual as seen in this video.

I have a suggestion for the Binhai Library to further add a message and positive meaning to its design choice of using illustrations of books to accentuate the overall design. Give the project more actual impact in the way of promoting literacy and knowledge dissemination. It would be a waster for the Binhai Library to just be an attraction and photo op What Binhai Library should and could do it to provide digital library access to the masses at Binhai Library, with high tech digital library with high tech readers that can present the case, e.g. one book can be read by 100s at the same time. Wouldn't that be modern and meaningful? . This can bring positive message and meaning to its design choice, indicating that we are entering the digital age. And books can be reinterpreted as digital resources to reach more people and facilitate greater mass consumption of knowledge than physical books can every reach.

For the higher floors, as 5 floors or above, how do people get books on those floors? There are no handrails as I can see, people can fall off easily. From the look of it, it is not a functional library, except for the first four floors. Quite a shallow report and Serpent ZA may have a point.

@@Jamaicafunk Truly I disagree. In general, except for the first four or five floors, it is impossible to get to the books. It is utterly useless as a library. There are no handrails or barricades to people from falling. As a work of structure wonder, yes it is a marvel, attesting to human advances in architecture and technology. It is in the same genre as Guggenheim or JP Getty museums of arts. But it is not a library, a depository and dispensary of human knowledge.
@Jamaicafunk
@Jamaicafunk 6 ай бұрын
@@Kukaboora I think you missed the fact that the main room contains the painted books which is mainly for visual aesthetic. It isn’t intended to access above the first five levels. If you watched either video you would have seen the actual books in the library are located in separate rooms.

🤓I have been to this bookstore, and the books on the high-level bookshelf are stickers, not real books. Because the real book is very heavy, it can be dangerous to fall from an earthquake, and it is also difficult to use if placed so high. But it's really nice and atmospheric, isn't it?

That’s the loudest library I have heard in a long time. 😂 How big is the library system that this library belongs to? 200K books on display is one thing while 200K available for checkout is another. How long can you check out books for and how do they handle fines? What else besides books can one check out? Were you able to check any books out? My local county library has over 2M books available for check out but certainly doesn’t display them all. Fines are generally waived unless the book is lost or damaged too. It doesn’t look as fancy though.😊

@@davidalexanderarnavat Not all public libraries are lending libraries. Some are research libraries, like the Library of Congress. I have never been there but I have used the UK equivalent, the British Library. I just applied for an and received an ID that let me access material for a project I was working on. It was pretty cool. So in short, in my mind two things are required to be a public library more than a policy on lending books: paid for with tax payer money, and public access.
