Today we are making some chocolate balls to make chocolate tea/cocoa tea the oldschool way with Miriam! Take some dry cocoa beans, smash them up in a mortar, roll them into balls, let them cool, then mix with cinnamon, milk, nutmeg and have a taste of the best drink in the world! We didn't get a chance to try the drink today, but will be trying it in Portland with Rasta Chucky very soon 😎

I love the way she told you not to open them infront of people, reminded me of my nan sending me home after visiting for a few weeks with hardo bread, a bagful of biscuits, carrot juice, spiced bun and some other things she had prepared as a going gift she always took us out of sight from the rest of the family to give us money and say don't make nobody trouble u enuh, this brought back those memories of the goodbyes especially the talk about god take care of you untill we meet again. Something very pure and warming about Jamaican elders like this woman. Beautiful people. 🖤🇯🇲

I’ve ordered some of those chocolate tea balls from Jamaica and still have some. They are good in the winter in the United States. I was introduced to them in 1984 by an Army buddy who was married to a Jamaican woman. The first time drinking it is the best and it’s even better when you get to drink it in Jamaica..
