Jamaicans are confident, in your face, kick ass people. We don't care if you agree with the sentiments expressed in the video about our smarts or not. We love who we are and will always think the best of ourselves no matter who likes to hate but really just hate themselves!

Jamaican people got raw deal from the powers that be from day 1 hence why they are so rebellious whether upper class, middle class etc. We have an innate spirit for freedom of expression and when we feel suppressed,we rebel. No doubt, some of us made wrong choices but that is only because they never had the chance to express their talent whatever that may be. So I agree,Jamaicans are the smartest people on earth.

spluffin bones Your conclusion makes no sense to me. All humans have an innate spirit for freedom and will fight to be free. I agree some of us (including rich people) made wrong choices, but it's usually because of ignorance, peer pressure or naiveté. Poverty and a lack of opportunity is what sometimes cause many not to to realize their talent. If I'm poor and live in the Ghetto and have never touched a piano, the chances are extremely slim that I will end up as a classical pianist. When one is rich, they are exposed to more opportunity than a poor person. They can travel and learn about the world, and they can get the best education.

I also think you'll find that in terms of globally successful talent (whatever the domain), Jamaica is close to, if not at the top of the overall ladder with regards to production of such talent per capita- especially for a 3rd world country without the resources to harness and hone such prospects.

I think many people are missing the point. The man is not advocating slavery nor is he applauding slavery. I think he is saying that Jamaica benefited in spite of the horrific process of slavery and the misguided errors of the masterminds of slavery. Don't forget that slavery was an outgrow of Religion, and people still cling to the architect of slavery (churches) as their ways of life. Would you say that these church-goers are approving of slavery?

I totally agree with the comment Jamaica has a lot of intelligent people horny did not have the opportunity to be educated I came to Canada at the age of 19 my first job at nine years old was in the sugarcane field I’m in the tobacco field working I am now a person a Jamaica With Jamaican heritageI have two, first I have a certificate as a registered nurse second a degree in nursing third I have two certificate as a OR technician working in the operating room distributing instrumentation medication for doctors and anaesthesiologist I also have a certificate for medical billing that takes a lot of math if I did not leave Jamaica it’s a possibility I would not have the education I have now, my mother was a widower at an early age, my nickname at work they call me the walking computer don’t tell me Jamaica do not produce intelligent people given the opportunity we can do great things God bless the island of Jamaica.

Smart poor people are are not rich because they are burdened with integrity. They don’t know how to exploit the poor, stupid and the weak. Nor do they know how to suspend their conscience to manipulate poor religious people. There’s a reason why religion preaches nobility in poverty, it is eraser to control the believers to work their butt off while alive with the promise of milk and honey after death. Smart poor people cannot get super rich because they are just too honest. But then again, maybe I am wrong. What do you think?

Most countries benefited from the slave trade in the sense that- Many slave owners and masters took part in genocide where they killed the natives and imported slaves for sport/fun. Also in the very tough conditions- lack of food, healthcare etc. it was almost a case of survival of the fittest. And I have no doubt that of the Jamaicans that made it through the slavery era as well as the more poverty-stricken times, there is an abnormally high percentage of gifted people.

I’ve been telling people long time that we Jamaican were more superior , both physically and mentally . My theory is different though , my logic is if I’m a slave owner and I want to sell some slaves then I’m not going to sell the strongest or the smartest . Think about that , who would you sell ? So you see , our slave owners sold the weak and not so smart and kept the best in Jamaica

The in-eloquent guy in the video said that Usain Bolt proves that Jamaicans have the smartest people.................LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!..............For real..........Does he even knows that he is unwittingly bolstering a claim, or charge, (in some corners).................that Bolt, and the whole Jamaican team were actually using undiscoverable, super-exotic, performance enhancing drugs.................and if it were true, that would only prove them cunning, but definitely not smart?................To use Bolt, and the other super-athletes as example is actually very dumb...............The fact is that the athletes are good due to superb training and a high carbohydrate diet (yellow yam)..............But I wouldn't try to use them to prove exceptional smartness.

He is saying that the people who went to Jamaica were not very receptive to the idea of slavery; they were the trouble-makers (Think of all the Jamaicans who fought against slavery). These people were the highly intelligent and athletic people, so because they were the "trouble-makers"; not very docile for slavery, they were brought to Jamaica instead. He is not justifying slavery.
