The question they chose was really clever; "D'artagnan" is the most famous of all the names listed, so anyone who DIDN't read "The Three Musketeers" (myself included) would assume that D'artagnan is the correct answer and, therefore, that Jamal had lost. I know they got me with that twist!

They weren’t religious though or they were Muslims because in the original scene it showed their hometown being burned down by Hindus. muslims have 7 levels of heaven so that would also technically also be inaccurate.

Seeing that Jamal was on the show he knew he was on there for Latika. All them years he seen how much his brother loved her and how miserable she was without him. Seeing his brother still after all that time still pursuing her think might've tugged his heart. Let's remember he loved his brother.. He just chose the money over him and once he seen that the money meant nothing to Jamal but the love I think that was an eye opener for him.

I believe the host told him the correct answer before the final question but it turned out to be a false answer. The host and the show tried to make sure that he would not win because of who he is as a slumdog. But he shocked everyone and answered the correct answer. That is what I remembered.
