This is a countdown for Disney Sequels made without the advantage of being produced by a major studio. If I was to make a countdown for EVERY Disney sequel, of course I would include Rescuers Down Under and Toy Story 2 haha!

I think Cinderella III is so well done because it incorporates elements that Walt intended for the original film but decided against because they were too "modern" for the time. Such as more development of Prince Charming, chase scenes with Cinderella rescuing the prince, more legitimate villainy from Lady Tremaine, the return of the Fairy Godmother in the ending, etc. I think the scene with Anastasia getting a hold of the wand is one of my favorite parts. ("Mother, look what I got!" "...A stick." "Let's beat her with it!") As for The Lion King, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Pocahontas, and The Jungle Book, I think the sequels were inevitable because either the source material continued the story where the film left off or the film had hints of a sequel (Simba's cub and Jafar being trapped rather than killed off). That being said, I would like sequels to The Sword in the Stone and The Black Cauldron since the films are only a small part of each original story.

Being a huge fan of the Peter Pan Disney movie, I actually loved it's sequel. When I was younger, I found it amazing and I adored every second of it, being fascinated by the animation. Even now, when I'm a bit older and I can see it's flaws, I still enjoy it for it's visuals and corcky moments between the characters - and especially with that octopus dude XD. As of other sequels, well I've only seen Pocahontas II and The Rescuers Down Under, as well as Cinderella A Twist in Time and Alladin and The King of Thiefs which I quite enjoyed.

I thought the message of Return To Neverland was that while it's important to survive, it's also good to have a balance with imagination. Jane had no imagination, and therefore the depression of the war got to her more than anyone else. If she kept a little bit of childlikeness, she'd feel a lot better. She doesn't have to abandon her maturity for it - she can have it both ways.

Sorry, but I didn't see it that way at all. The film goes to extra lengths to push her into being imaginative and playful, while guilting or humiliating her whenever she focuses on being resourceful. I never saw her learning to find a balance, because the movie was more focused on getting her to play more, portraying her maturity as a character flaw. When she comes home from her adventure, she doesn't demonstrate a newfound balance, but has replaced her interest in wartime necessities with a stronger passion for playtime. However, keep in mind, that I've not seen RTN since I made this video.

@@Jambareeqi I didn't get that message that she should go the opposite way, but I understand why you did. I assume they wanted to get the message across about balance, but went too far and made it too black and white. It would've been a lot better if the war hadn't ended when Jane got home. Or, even better, have the war end before Jane goes to Neverland. She no longer has to be an adult, but has lost her childhood, and that's how she gets it back. That would fix a good portion of the problems.

Here's my Thoughts on all the movie on this list. WORST: 5. Why was this in theaters? 4. Never seen it. 3. Have seen it, but don't remember a damn thing. 2. This movie sucks, at best it's boring, at worst it's EXTREMELY boring. TL;DR: I don't like it. 1. Never seen it. BEST: 5. I really liked this movie, too. 4. I respect your opinion, but I thought the movie was meh 3. Never seen it. I should one day see that movie because I loved the first movie. 2. Big improvement from Return of Jafar 1. I'm glad I was not the only one unimpressed by the Lion King 2. It's NOT bad but it's still just as flawed but I guess you could argue far less flawed the questionable ones (like Fox and the hound 2). I honestly don't understand what raises it above just ok. The whole Romeo and Juliet /over protective dad angle has been done and LK2 does not do anything I have not seen before (even by disney). In fact it could have just been a story of a Simba's cub befriending a hyena (oh hai Lion Guard) and played out in much the same way without it needing to be a love story. That would have at least helped it stand out from every other Romeo and Juliet story. Heck would have avoided the awkward Scar is not Kovu's dad yet Scar's mate (I guess) just so happened to find a unrelated random cub that look just like him none sense. I mean from what I saw in the first movie Scar was starving the pride so it's hard to believe a impressive amount of lioness would have supported him. Even the hyena's turned on him when they saw how much of coward he was. Zira does not strike me as naive character yet she saw Scar as worth being loyal to the death.

Same. NGL I was actually pretty disappointed Peter Pan 2 was in the worst list. I get his point of view, but the sequel is so much better than the original movie for me. For one, it doesn’t have the Native American stereotype mess the first one did, and two, Peter is much less of a brat and actually more playful/caring of Jane instead of constantly making fun of her like he does with Wendy. And I actually really liked how Jane started out as the opposite of her mother, being no nonsensical and practical and understandably lashing out in fear and sadness of her father being drafted. And she has to be able to recapture her inner child in order to leave Neverland. Pocahontas 2 is wrong on so many levels, but largely because she doesn’t end up with John Smith, no, Disney had to force her to end up with her real life husband John Rolfe instead. It wouldn’t have angered me so much if it properly showed Smith and Poca actually acknowledging they still love each other, but they’re better off being friends instead and know they can’t make each other truly happy in the long run of a marriage. Instead, Smith turned into a narcissistic a**hole who doesn’t give a crap about her feelings or people’s wellbeing. And he viewed her as a trophy wife instead of a woman he fell deeply in love with. Its such a slap in the face to see Disney trying to paint their relationship as a fling that was never going to last, especially when you compare why Ariel falls for Eric or say Aurora with Philip. The latter especially, considering Aurora herself doesn’t have an actual personality and basically doesn’t do anything in her movie or show she isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. All she does is cry over the first man she’s ever met. Ugh

@@zackrules4797 I also give it some credit for giving Mowgli and Shanti character development, and I really liked their chemistry. But the movie becomes so bad after Mowgli leaves the village. But what's most insulting is how Baloo basically forgets everything he learned about responsibility in the first film. The story also would've made more sense if Mowgli was coerced into going back to the jungle. Like, maybe have Shere Khan take the wolves hostage and threaten to kill them unless Mowgli comes back to face him or something.

The Lion King 1 1/2 (I love Timon & Pumbaa’s Before the Beginning Story) 4). Leroy & Stitch (Great Finale to Lilo & Stitch: The Series) 5). Kronk’s New Groove (Fun Movie for Kronk) 6). I don't think people give The Little Mermaid 2 credit as a decent film. To me, it's not merely a reverse-rehash of the first film; I can see why some people would say so, but I view it as a story about a mixed-race child trying to find where she truly belongs. Surprisingly innovative, especially since there weren't any hybrid characters before. Melody is similar to her mother, but it makes some sense because that's what families are like by nature and nurture. She's 12 years old, which justifies her innocence; however, she's not an annoying, spoiled brat because she never flaunts her princess status to get what she wants in any way. What makes Melody different from Ariel is the lack of a love interest and being more of a family person. What Melody learns is that her family will love her no matter what form she's in, and the best thing for her to be is herself. Plus, unlike Ariel, Melody doesn't get her tail back. Instead she breaks down the literal and figurative walls that separate her human and mermaid lives. Not to mention that Tara Strong voicing Melody is a joy to the ears. For my favorite Disney sequel, The Lion King 2. Nice animation, creative story, catchy songs, and it fixed some of the problems that the first film had, such as the female characters' importance and inherent heroism/villainy. Bringing back the original actors for the returning characters was a smart move, and the new ones have a lot of personality. The message is even mature for a Disney film of its time: the world isn't all black-and-white in terms of morality, and it takes more strength and courage to forgive enemies than to condemn them. Also, hilarious in hindsight line about "letting it go".

You make some good points about LM 2 and I'll admit that I liked Melody's fascination with the sea but I found it kind of lame as a movie, from the annoying comic relief characters to the lazy villain ("It's Ursula's crazy sister!" Urghhhh). It was very close to being in my top 5 worst list but a part of me kind of liked it haha. It's a guilty pleasure entry I guess.

I can admit I only love the Hunchback of Notre Dame II for the character Madealine/Madeline name for the reason of sharing that name and not having a lot of similarity with Disney maidens that obvious. That and it also grew on my with age the whole movie series. Now Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time is a squeal that I have been pushing people to watch after I first saw it back in middle school. I am glad that is becoming well known and more loved.

My issue with Belle's Magical World was that it lacked the whole Good vs Evil. I loved Ariel's Beginning cause it unveils why Triton has a profound bitterness for humans and it explains the musical performing of Ariel and her sisters in the first movie. Cause it always seemed like there was never a concert before and sebastian took it so badly of Ariel missing it.

Stitch! The Movie - Good pilot for the TV show, very underwhelming as a stand alone movie because of it's small scale standards Tarzan & Jane - Weak framing device but l love the Tarzan TV show, so I enjoyed watching three episodes of "The Legend of Tarzan" Cinderella 2 - Despite the over the top annoying comedy, I tolerated this one because Cinderella is such a lovely character

Tarzan and Jane has weak animation and some flaws here and there, but the stories and the characters kept me entertained and focused. I also think Cinderella 2 is alright. For me, Cinderella 3 is Disney’s direct to video sequel’s spiderverse. While it’s obviously not as stylised or good as spiderverse, it saved their reputation for making inferior cashgrabs that were designed to make money.

I really love your work jamerique. I aswell, find a majority of the Disney sequels to be pathetic crash grabs. But some are genuine good works. My personal favorite was kronks new groove. What can I say? I LOVE that guy.

I am personally not so hard with "The Return of Jafar". The songs were catchy. I think that if they only made it with a better quality, it would have been a harmless direct to DVD movie to watch now and then.

Your review of return to neverland honestly is interesting and I never thought about the movie that way before. Phantomstrider loves movie and even put it as his number 1 favourite Disney sequel, and he was he main reason I actually decided to give the movie another go and I honestly did really like. But completely understand the themes about war. I remember seeing the movie in theatres as a kid too.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy is one of my favourite cartoons. It's bloody hilarious and I love the unique art style and animation. I've only seen a few episodes of Regular Show and I really liked it.

I have serious issues with Ariel's mom death (by the way, why giving her the same name of a Disney princess? Pick another). First of all: it's stupid. The pirates just wanted to steal their stuff, not to kill anyone. She threw away her life to recover a replaceable material possession. Then: Poseidon proceed to blame ALL humans for what she did to herself. He could have blamed and punished the ones responsible for what brought her to that poor decision, but nope. ALL HUMANS. Dude, look into your own neighborhood. Your very own sister is evil. Does that mean ALL underwater people are bad the same? ... and then he also blames music, BECAUSE.

Definitely agree with the two Lion King films, with the second one having strong connections to Romeo and Juliet but out of the two of them I also enjoyed the Timon and Pumba's version of the original Lion King that made things just as funny as well as that nostalgia factor as they made fun of many scenes from their own point of view. I didn't agree with your take on Return of Jafar, while it is more like a pilot for the Aladdin series to explain why Iago becomes an ally to Aladdin, I didn't think it was all that bad. The animation quality I do admit is way below par but I liked Iago's attempt to become good. Overall I feel that trying to do your top 5 best and worst Disney sequels was almost an impossible task to shift between the bad and the good. I never thought that the Cinderella 3 movie was that good, may be interesting to have a good watch of it someday myself.

To me, Aladdin and the king of thieves steals the top spot because I love adventure movies like this. But I was quite impressed with Cinderella 3 too, especially its cinematic ambitions for a direct to dvd. I like all the sequels you put in your top five but had I made one myself, I would have included the Lion King 2 at the number 3 spot, because I feel that efforts were put into this movie regarding the animation and the story, I like Zira a lot, Kiara and Kovu are so cute when together, I liked all the songs minus one, Simba's conflict is understandable, not wanting to die is a good reason to act like he did. Too bad Rafiki was lost in adaptation. What else... I never saw Little mermaid 3 but you're not the first person to tell me this movie is good. Lion king 3 was so funny it would probably take the number 4 spot and Kronk's new groove at number 5 (or the number four, I'm not sure) And the sequel I despise the most would either be cinderella 2 or Hunchback 2.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 has to be the shittiest hands down imo. We had this badass mature villain with mature struggles and they weren't afraid to expose children to the adult/ scary stuff that made up his character (lust, religious conflict, power) and he didn't even need any super powers or magic or anything to be a good menacing villain. The art was breathtaken and explored amazing angles to show you visually how stunning and large the setting is, and quite possibly has my very favorite Disney soundtrack with beautifully composed music (I especially love Hellfire, hands down my favorite Disney villain song). What did we get as a villain for the sequel of such a powerful, artistically breathtaking movie? Stilted and cheap animation with no heart and a shoestring budget, a generic narcissistic villain who's about as threatening as a big gay marshmallow, horribly boring and generic music with that shitty sequel branded pop song (as I like to call it, since​ every shitty sequel produced in this era in time was chock full of that shitty wannabe Pop music) and a bland setting with horrible color contrast to help explore how large and beautiful the setting is. We just get washed out, ugly colors and a MUCH smaller setting (keep in mind, this is in the same damn city... how did it shrink so much?) Just everything is UNBEARABLE in this movie.

Disneytoon did make "Lady and the tramp 2" :) Lady and the tramp 2 isn't very ambitious (it's just a reverse gender version of the first film) and I found Scamp to be VERY annoying but I think it's well animated and romantically cute. It ranked 15th out of the 30 Disney Sequels I saw.

Leroy and stitch was pretty decent as a sequal and the TV series was as well. Wasn't to big on 2 tho even tho it isn't as bad as other sequals Disney has done like the ones you have on your worst list. Great video and you have earned a sub!

I really enjoy Pooh´s Grand Adventure. Despite its not too great soundtrack and its cliche plot, I still like it because I think the way it handles character development is pretty outstanding for a Winnie the Pooh movie (with Piglet, Rabbit and especially that wonderful scene with Pooh talking to himself). My 5 Worst: 5) *Little Mermaid 2:* This movie had a really good plot going for it, and it all gets botched with being forced to repeat the first movie, step by step. Apart from the terrible animation, I hated the sidekicks, even the ones from the first movie became so unlikable (except Flounder), the villain’s revenge plan is a flip flop, and the plot was a rehash of the first movie. If the movie was about Ariel and Melody’s relationship as mother and daughter it could have been slightly better. 4) *Cinderella 2:* Even as a kid I kept asking myself, “What is this? This is not Cinderella.” (this was before I ever saw the first movie btw). I can stand the third story of Anastasia (though the third movie did it better) but I absolutely can’t stand the story of one of the mice becoming a man. I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! 3) *Hunchback 2:* (You pretty much clarified it already) 2) *Fox and the Hound 2:* I could write a whole essay about how atrociously painful this movie is. This is the kind of movie I can’t even look at it’s so bad. The songs make me want to slit my ears (I don’t care if the singers are good, they deserve to be in better), the plot has absolutely nothing to do with the first movie, and it takes the theme of "life’s unpredictable and not always friendly” and dumbs it down to a cliched liar revealed story. How I can stand Hunchback 2 more than this movie surprises me. 1) *Belle’s Magical World:* The characters suddenly became unlikable, Belle’s the only moral compass (which becomes unrealistic and irritating), the plots are the same, and the morals……….I’ve seen Disney do better lessons on being yourself, recognizing when you’re wrong, and consequences of your actions. This felt like I was being spoon fed lessons when really I can figure it out for myself. Was it really too expensive to get writers who could come up with well developed plots rather than hire monkeys to take the job?

I've spoken to quite a few folk who worked on Disney Sequels at DisneyToon, they explained that low budgets and VERY strict deadlines are to blame for their rushed efforts.
