Thank you to DICE & EA for sponsoring this episode. Battlefield™ 1 is available on Xbox One, Origin™ for PC and PlayStation®4 now! Head to the official Battlefield 1 website to learn more: www.battlefield.com/
With the help of our special guest host Danny Trejo, Matt and Kerry recreated the World War I Jambiya Knife from EA Battlefield 1! Using materials and tactics used in the WWI era, the blacksmiths were able to create a truly glorious and dangerous Arabian knife.
Every other Monday, our team of blacksmiths and craftsman build some of your favorite weapons, and some weapons that you've never seen before. This week, the guys at Baltimore Knife and Sword take on this Jambiya Knife from WW1!
Ever wanted to ask the Man At Arms team a question? Now you can! Go to AWEme’s Twitter: @awemechannel and use #AskABlacksmith with your question. The blacksmiths will be answering your questions with a video reply on AWEme’s Facebook.

As a Yemeni I love this build and the only thing I'd point out is that you can't have a jambiyah without a sheath, we have a saying in yemen"if you pull a jambiyah out of its sheath it doesn't go back till blood is shed"(it's a rough translation but same message) it's so people don't go around waving their janbiyah if they don't have the balls to use it. Though people don't go by the saying anymore because lots of people are interested in the janbiyah so they ask you if they can see it don't go asking very old Yemenis if you can see their janbiyah since the only time you see the blade is when they perform traditional dances or in battle

Germany tried to get them to attack the US to help keep America out of the war. In return they promised to help Mexico retake the land that was lost in the Mexican American war. The message is known as the Zimmerman Note, but of course Mexico refused and the rest is history.

Illya's my favorite, he knows so many awesome skills and makes such mind-bogglingly beautiful work. When I realized that he was the winner of the spiked shield episode of Forged in Fire, it made me like him even more. Easily one of the most beautiful things on Forged in Fire. He's also Russian so that automatically makes him awesome. Such a skilled individual, I hope to one day learn at least half the skills he has mastered.

can you do more Arab and middle eastern builds ? you made plenty of barely curved swords (Katana), so I think it would be awesome to see the furthest of the curve spectrum with scimitars. the word Jambia has two parts, Jamb (or Janb) with means side, and (ia) which can be translated into the suffix (ly), so it literally means sidely, it has its name because Yemeni people would have that dagger on their side, and it was used as a side weapon (like pistols today) as swords and spears were the main weapons, many people in Yemen still wear Janbia today as a decoration today.

@Vienna Turkic people did use curved swords, yes, but Arabs are the most famous for it since they did clash with European kingdoms long before any Turkic people went there. India has curved swords too, but they were local mostly.

@Vienna there is the sword of Ali, made at around 600 A.D, double edged, and curved, so no, Arabs used curved swords long before the Turks came to the scene. Egyptians used the Khopesh, which is a curved short sword, around 2000 B.C.

Crucible steel like they made it is certainly worth more than $2.50. Of course, I can pick up scrap 1080 for $0.50/lb where I live, so it's certainly reasonably to say that this quantity steel in general would only be a couple bucks.

***** You clearly know nothing of the vast amount of awesome hammers and axes from video games/animes etc. Let's take Gimli's axe, once you've seen that you definitely haven't seen them all. Also, there are amazing historical or mythological builds they could do. They already did Mjolnir, so why not Frost Giant weapons as well?
@caspianhorlick4529
@caspianhorlick4529 7 жыл бұрын
***** Also, let's talk about hammers for a moment shall we? Smough's hammer is nothing like the Megaton hammer, which is nothing like Monster Hunter hammers, which is nothing like Asteroth's many war hammers from the Soulcalibur series. Yeah, I think I've proved my point.

I tell you what if our ancestors could see how far we've come with steel production their minds would be blown. We can make just as good of steel now as they did when the best they could make was crucible steel and it's much more readily available. At the same time you have to give the inventors of crucible steel props for coming up with something that was so far ahead of its time.
