I think this is the first time i've seen james being remotely serious and I'm here for it

This is business-mode Acaster, he doesn’t show up often but he’s clearly very insightful about his work and the industry, so it’s always a treat Would also recommend listening to him on The Comedian’s Comedian podcast with Stuart Goldsmith for similar reasons

James is genuinely my favorite comedian and has been for years. I always love hearing him talk candidly. He comes across as such a thoughtful and insightful person. Super good interview. Thanks for giving him room to talk without interrupting too much, and for the good banter.

Make sure to listen to his "The Comedian's Comedian Podcast" interviews if you want to hear more of him talking like this.

Love this promotion tour James is doing. His specials are always amazing and Hecklers Welcome is no different.

i’ve never been so sure of the sheer goodness of a man i’ve never met. I just know, wholeheartedly, that james is a genuine, good person. and a masterful comedian to be sure. will support him always

While I love James, I've been burned too many times by this sort of thinking. Last celebrity I thought about like this was Neil Gaiman. And when the stuff about him came out, I said never again

I love when he shares his process. He's so honest and passionate and intelligent.

The new special is fantastic, and this interview just solidifies my opinion that James is one of the best and smartest comedians out there right now.

This is why I love James, he is so smart and he has really studied the ins and outs of his job.

I so admire James’ rawness - he is so real about the struggles of stand up on himself. I have never heard a comedian open up like this, there definitely is this “superhero” front majority of them have. Really cool to hear actually it is as terrifying as you would think. James has such a unique style of comedy and he fits so perfectly into his own category

Great interview! I love when stand-ups (former or current) interview other stand-ups; you can get really into the process, and James always has interesting things to say about that.

Getting up on stage does cause a ton of anxiety but the sound of a cheering crowd is like nothing else. Even the tiniest bit of fame can be intoxicating.

I for one would like to go on record and state, that I am happy you choose to continue doing standup.. Not just you. I love all standup, even rather bad standup. Got me through some rotten times. But for me, you are the king of standups. A lot of the weird feels recogniseable.

Great interview! I'm glad he's planning more shows, i still haven't seen him live! I did the same thing, deleted socials but still on KZbin, at least I'm not alone :)

I wonder what are James' thoughts on Stewart Lee. I see some similarities between the two, so I'm curious whether or not there's any influence.

There's a great video essay about that on KZbin, about Acaster, Lee and the unreliable narrator.

I liked this interview, Acaster is my generations best comedian in my opinion, but the censor beep is too loud compared to the rest of the interview.
