James Arthur struggled particularly with his mental health after shooting to fame on The X Factor in 2012. After speaking about his struggles with anxiety, panic attacks and depression over the past few years, James Arthur uses his influence to help people suffering with their mental health issues. He believes that it is the duty of anyone who has some sort of voice in society to speak out about their struggles to normalise the stigma around mental health.
In this chat with Fearne, James shares how he handles outside opinion, how he has to manage his anxiety every day and what he has been learning about how trauma during his formative years affects him now.
What do you think about today's episode with Arthur James on Happy Place podcast? If you're struggling right now... remember, everything will be okay in the end and if it's not, it's not the end.
James Arthur is an English singer and songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. Since then, he has sold 30 million records worldwide. After opening up about his struggles with drugs, anxiety and depression, James Arthur uses his influence to raise awareness of mental health issues, and it was announced that he had become an ambassador for UK mental health charity SANE.
