Man I wish James played more of these solos in his studio recorded songs. That was dope!
@squidy23436 жыл бұрын
I typically don't like guitar solos since vocals are my favorite but damn I could watch James play solos all day because of how into them he gets. I think besides talent, if a musician has passion that shows when they play then they're the whole package. Absolutely love watching him play

holy shit that solo was amazing
@1DEdits8 жыл бұрын
this is such a great cover. the vocals of both of them are both incredibly strong and unique (yet similar to each other) and james' solo was the best playing ive heard from him (and clearly mayer influenced !!!)
@fartigus6718 жыл бұрын
Well don't know if it's John Mayer specifically, but James is heavily influenced by blues just like John Mayer so yeah
@claree6188 жыл бұрын
^this exactly. John Mayer didn't invent anything to be copied. They are both blues/soul singers who are great guitar players...and who appreciate the blues/soul/r&b musicians who came before them. I will never understand the comparison between James Bay and John Mayer.
@Blessman88 жыл бұрын
True that John Mayer didn't invent anything to be copied but every musician develops some sort of padron on their solos over the years, that's why you can hear some piece of music sometimes and say which musician you are hearing to or 3 or 4 guys that may be possibly playing that. Obviously you don't need to sound like any other artist just because you share the same type of music, that's the beauty of music, it's variety. But I'm with 1DEdits on this one, I was looking somewhere else at mid solo and for a moment I swear I was hearing John Mayer soloing. This may be a coincidence or an influence, both are good. I don't hear John Mayer when I listen to James Bay but I heard on this solo.
@imnothere518 жыл бұрын
Rather than listening to this and hearing John Mayer as an influence, I hear the influences that both john and James share, and appreciate the awesome and different ways it manifests in their music. I don't think James grew up obsessing over John Mayer ... lol... I think they just happened to have obsessed over a lot of the same music growing up, and it created two really badass musicians.

Vasco Figueiredo you are not alone. I definitely hear John Mayer in this and I don't usually think that when I listen to James Bay. Just here.
