Nothing tops the Connery Bond movies. Nothing. Just this scene alone. The music, the moonless sky, the slight breeze in the air, the stylishly dressed masses dancing outside, everyone in tuxes and dresses, high stakes gambling inside, just a perfect scene of 1960's cool. Such class.

Connery in full tux eases off a boat and glides into the cashier area; the sublime soundtrack just washes over the perfect scene. No wonder a passing girl turns her head.Stop the world there- that is perfection.

A true Bond movie must have the wittiness, excitement, charm, sophistication, elegance and exoticness of the old classic Bond movies like this. What we have now are dull, overdramatic, and confusing plotlines with a blonde bland actor who is Bourne/Statham/Rambo wannabe. His movies are trying hard to connect to the young generation of moviegoers by looking young and trendy (look at his disgusting skinny fit suits), having a young nerdy metrosexual Q and a Marvel-like villain character in No Time to Die. Daniel Craig bland Bond movies are snore fest with no memorable scenes. Even the music department doesn't match the legacy left by John Barry.

@WhiteJarrah
@WhiteJarrah 2 жыл бұрын
It's taken straight from the novel, though in the novel continuity Bond and Largo have already met, SPECTRE has had no past encounters with Bond, such that Largo thinks Bond will make a great business associate. Even calls Bond "my friend" at the table. Bond playing word association with him triggers Largo's doubts.
@fabulousfrance

This got to be the greatest passive/agressive conversation between Bond and his ennemy. Each one knows who the other is and what he wants. Largo can't kill Bond right now or at least make it look like an accident or as Fiona Volpe said, his government will immediatly know the bombs are there. That's why he socialize with Bond, to spare time until the deadline

This is what Connery had that the rest just did not have. That physical star presence. No question Dan Craig was a a great JB. He just did not have the physical presence that Connery had in the role. Not really a fault of Craig. It is such a rare trait.

@@stefanwagner1424 when he met Cubby Broccoli & Ian Fleming no one was sure if he was right for the role. Fleming in particular wasn't a fan as Connery was a bit coarse for him. I like to think each actor brought out a different aspect of Bond. Craig is the officer Bond, one who is very much not able to blend into civilian life. Connery's Bond was the gentleman Bond who, having left service, and having a certain gentle disdain for his job, was only to happy to move about with casual confidence.

The Executive Producer of Ian Flemings James Bond was Albert R. Broccoli (Chubby). In the early 60' s Chubby was searching 'the perfect' Bond for his first JB film Dr. No. They auditioned over 100+ potential actors to fit the role, no one hit the mark. One day, as they continued the audition process Sean Connery got his chance and walked on stage. Chubby's wife happened to be at the audition that day. As soon as Connery walked on stage Chubby's wife looked at her husband & said he's Bond, he's the one. Chubby said, how do you know, he hasn't read any lines. She replies, it's the way he walks, he moves like a jungle cat.
