Ironically, the movie where Bond resigns as a secret agent is the one where he actually acts like one, infiltrating the villains organisation and uncovering and sabotaging his plot from the inside rather than being captured by a villain stupid enough to reveal his entire plot before trying to kill Bond in the most inefficient way possible

@CrazyLarry234 жыл бұрын
Before he took the role of Bond, Timothy Dalton was concerned that he might become bored with the role if he played the same character for several years. Yet, that wasn't why Dalton left after only two movies as 007. It was in fact something completely out of his control: he was all set for a third movie in 1990, only for legal issues between Eon Productions and MGM to delay the production. "Because of the lawsuit, I was free of the contract," Dalton told The Week. The door was open for Dalton to return as Bond when the lawsuit was resolved in 1994, but he had decided he would only want to return for one movie. "[Producer Albert Broccoli] said, quite rightly, 'Look, Tim. You can't do one. There's no way, after a five-year gap between movies that you can come back and just do one. You'd have to plan on four or five,'" Dalton recalled. "And I thought, 'Oh, no, that would be the rest of my life. Too much. Too long.' So I respectfully declined."

McRocket Dalton's 007 was a killer first, as was Connery, and as is Craig. Moore, Brosnan, and Lazenby were lovers first, opting to charm women to get information before killing a target.
@jane19755 жыл бұрын
McRocket Bond is meant to be like that, he seduces women, usually the killers girlfriend or associate to gain information - they also are complicit in the seduction as whilst he can be cruel and sadistic he can also be charming and the women always fall for him, often one of them will get killed for it. You see you would have to have been there to understand, 1986 Roger Moore was gone, Pierce Brosnan was in, Living Daylights pre title sequence already shot, THEN Broccoli fucks it up by firing him and replacing him with Dalton ALL because of a couple of weeks filming Remington Steele, Brosnan was Moore's natural successor, Dalton should have been BOND after him..
@missyadams4 жыл бұрын
Brosnan was not fired, he turned down the role because of his commitment to Remington Steele. Dalton was asked several after Connery, he felt he was too young and couldnt do justice to Bond after Connery's potrayal. Moore wanted to leave after Moonraker but because Dalton, Brosnan and (believe it or not- Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds, who said no because they both felt Bond should only be played by British actors), refused, Moore had to finish his contract. Dalton finally said yes, as long as he was allowed to play Bond the way Fleming described. He initially agreed to do Goldeneye but after being told he would do the 3 additional, he said no. Hence Brosnan, who beat James Purefoy (Mark Antony in Rome) in the auditions.

Moore's contract expired after Moonraker, he should have retired then, but Broccoli liked the formula with Moore so they kept renegotiating his contract on a movie to movie deal until he realised he was way to old and resigned after A view to a kill.....catch breath.....Broccoli caught Brosnan's eye when his wife starred in For your eyes only and with the success of Remington Steele and his good looks he was signed..AND I mean signed. Unfortunately the producers of that show intended to cancel it which left Brosnan clear to do Bond which he did, (he actually filmed the pre-title sequence in Gibraltar) until the producers renewed interest in him and due to the small print in his contract Brosnan could do nothing, A bit of bartering went on with them and Broccoli but Broccoli said no, "he's eather Bond or Steele, but not both" so with a broken heart (seriously, it crushed Brosnan at the time) Brosnan walked away... Tim Dalton was approached THEN and the rest is history.... At the time I followed VERY closely the Bond movie's and have to say the first time I ever connected Dalton and Bond was then..summer 1986. Obviously I saw him in other movie's but never heard of Broccoli considering him as Bond at any time. I think you're unknowingly giving credit to Dalton's performance. You don't infiltrate a global drug lord's organisation without taking a few hits and watching your back a few times. No matter how committed to the task you were, it would be a terrifying ordeal. The whole essence of this movie is danger; Bond is flirting with danger from beginning to end. He's got so many issues to confront- his own demons, his former employers (MI6) and Sanchez. Dalton's performance is exactly why he's my favourite Bond: it's grounded in realism. No disrespect to the man I'm about to namedrop, but you can't Roger Moore your way through this film and maintain its integrity. Dalton's entire performance- which I dare say is gritty, unforgiving, fatigued and intense- is the magic behind the movie. Without it, nothing would work. And for me, that's Bond.
@Whoa8022 жыл бұрын
For me, his Bond often acts a bit too intense for his own good. Dalton is great at showing the nerves and anxiety the character's facing, but he lacks the subtlety and restraint that makes his Bond believable as a spy. I find it hard to believe that a guy with the constant intense look Dalton has wouldn't raise suspicions in just about everyone he meets. Craig was far more convincing as an internally tense yet externally cool spy.
