You need to react to Ryan George’s “The Guys Who Named the Dongle” as soon as humanly possible

"A plot point drives up to him." That salient point, no pun intended, should be framed and considered an official axiom for reviewers. I'm not a Bond, or international intrigue, crime, spy movies fan. But from having sit through some, I wonder if their intent was to tweak his image even more. Originally Bond was a sophisticated man of the world; the quintessential action playboy based on what was super cool in the '40's/50's. Most men were far from being "men of the world", he was a fantasy "wish I could be" figure. Movie styles and fantasy life have drastically changed. Updating an icon and pleasing his die hard fans is as difficult with him as it is with Batman. The best route is to not change him much but change the movie style, which is proving difficult. Pitch Meeting was really on it, he hit all the issues.

Hot take: Casino Royale was brilliant, but the rest of the Daniel Craig movies are subpar & samey. I can't be bothered watching the next one, because I know it will be more of the same. If you remember, Danny Boyle was originally hired to direct this upcoming film, but he left the project due to "creative differences" (because he wanted to switch things up, but the producers said no). Side note: I have no issues with Daniel Craig's performances as Bond, I just wish they had taken more risks creatively.

Skyfall is the greatest Bond movie ever. It is a fantastic movie with or without it being a Bond movie, but as a Bond movie it's the best.
@Dystopia11113 жыл бұрын
@@JasonON Not sure about best ever, but I would at least say the best in a very long time. Like the previous poster said, I have no problem with Craig's performances, but the scripts often feel a little stale in recent years. Skyfall did a nice job of re-working the original formula and actually added some interesting character depth. It was really refreshing to get a villain who wasn't a maniac bent on some convoluted world domination scheme, but a more complex character with understandable motives for his actions. Part of me will always love Goldeneye best, but Skyfall is really close.

My favourite Bond by a long shot is Dalton, but that’s because he felt the most like an antihero on purpose, & I simply can’t read Bond as a ‘hero’. (Also adored him in Rocketeer)
@OnMyMindEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
He was great in the Rocketeer. I've actually never seen all of a Timothy Dalton or Roger Moore Bond movie. That's why I want to do a marathon and check them all out.

Rocketeer is such an underrated film. It was great. Moore was my favorite bond. I also think however that I pick my favorite Bond actors based on how much I liked the movies and not the actual actors.

Brosnan is also my fav because he was the one I grew up watching as well, even though I don't think his movies were that great (still love Goldeneye though) and the Bond Women were my favs during that era. I can't really get into the Daniel Craig ones, especially Casino Royale.

Ryan George is so funny! This movie was not as good as the rest of DC's Bond movies. I think, though, that the concept for the movie, is underwhelming to many folks because here in the US, we take water's availability for granted. Only now, in the West, in CA, AZ, and even OR, where the drought is really, really drying up different places and leaving them unlivable, are we beginning to realize how dangerous life can be without water. Even now, wars are being fought over water availability and water rights in other parts of the world. I was ok with the concept of controlling water for an evil guy in this movie. It actually made the movie a little more realistic for me. Having said that, the other movies in this particular series, were better by more than a bit! (For me... Daniel, Sean, Timothy and Pierce, George, then Roger, best to worst. I understand everyone has their favorites, and mine won't match up with many folks' lists and that is ok.)
@OnMyMindEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
Only part I'm surprised by is that you have George over Roger, lol!!! I really don't prefer either of those actors in the role, so I act like their movies don't exist, LOL!!!

Yeah this definitely wasn't a really good movie, I've only watched it once, and don't remember much from it. I don't feel the need to watch it again unfortunately, unlike all the other ones, especially Skyfall, my favorite, such a masterpiece 😌. The Quantum of Solace PS2 videogame was quite good though 😊, I've played it several times, and it was actually better than the movie in my opinion 😆, it had great graphics (for a PS2 game of that time), great gameplay, both action and stealth, it also had some parts from Casino Royale for the story to make more sense, so it actually felt clearer than the movie one, and the characters were all voiced by the actors from the movie as well 😎.

"This one, we can all agree I think, for the most part, is the weakest of the bunch." Mr. Vaughn, I really must object! That last five minutes of the movie, where Bond and MI-6 apprehended that vaguely-European-esque lothario (whom we'd never seen before) and prevented him from seducing that woman (whom we'd also never seen before) because he'd been the one who'd seduced / recruited Vesper Lynd (the events of which took place before Casino Royale, and which we didn't actually see happen) which ultimately led to her death (which we weren't shown in this movie, not even in flashback)... Well, if you can't appreciate how COMPLETELY and ENTIRELY satisfying that was, then I feel sorry for you :) EDIT / EDITION: I hope that I properly telegraphed that I totally agree with you! Sometimes, in the past, I've thought that I had, but the people whom I agreed with - perfectly intelligent, reasonable people - took me seriously! The old internet joke is true; there really should be a [sarcasm] Sarcasm Font [sarcasm/] and / or and [irony] Irony Font [irony/] Once again, a great review on your part; [sincerity] your enthusiasm is infectious. Imo Spectre was the worst. Cause in this one they had still action packed scenes. And they got the excuse of the writers strike. In spectre they had all the ingredients for a good bond movie. They had a music from Sam Smith, Christoph Waltz as an antagonist, with a close relation on paper to Bond, and the big boss of Spectre. They had Dave Bautista as an henchman. And aaaaaall of that, for a super boring movie. Such a complete waste.

I love Olga Kurylenko. She's not only beautiful but a much better actress than Gal Gadot. Wish she got treated well by Hollywood but it seems Hollywood just boost up horrid actors for some other reason. Olga Kurylenko was in a MCU movie but you know what they did? Covered her up and gave her no lines. Disheartening.
