Connery is probably the most accurate ERB personality to date.. just shows up out of nowhere unannounced to make the battle about himself, and when each of the others interject he doesn't just insult them, he literally slaps them with a smug face, and when they bite back he promises to actually kill them. Yep, that's *exactly* the kind of asshole Bond was in the 60's. A perfect recreation.

“I don’t need a Q to break your balls” is such a clever line that it solely won the battle for me. Here are all 3 meanings of it if you didn’t get it 1. I don’t need a cue to break your balls, as in he doesn’t need a signal from someone (like Q) to beat him up. 2. I don’t need a Q to break your balls, as in he doesn’t need a helper or someone who gives him gadgets to beat him up. And, 3, I don’t need a cue to break your balls as in a Pool Cue to break his balls (just a clever Pool wordplay line)
@Trineal234 жыл бұрын
I have watched this battle literally dozens of times and I totally thought the only meanings were 2 and 3. 1 never occurred to me. Thanks for pointing that out! This is why ERB is on another level, cause even after several listens you can still get some new extra meaning.
@Galacticgg4 жыл бұрын
My only problem with that bar is that Q is in all of the 007 movies except three of them. Two of which are Daniel Craig movies. So really Craig uses Q less than Sean does. Because of that I feel it would almost be better if Craig said it, IF it weren't for the infamous ball busting scene.

Craig Bond came in looking to hurt his opponent. he was angry, he was hard, he fired his shots with intent to kill. Austin came in having fun, he was enjoying himself and cracking jokes rather than firing off haymakers. The crowd would have enjoyed him like you said with the groovy baby thing and double oh behave but he didnt have the fire needed. Then connery came in as the og and handed out his dismissal of them both as johnny come latelys ripping off his brand. When they teamed up on him they delivered some damage, as he was vulnerable to that dr no means no baby line. I go with connery because he took it smooth and savage while craig was angry and savage and I enjoy a guy who (mostly) doesnt take it too seriously. Craig acted offended he was even there at all.

Nah Bond didn't even use his 2nd round because he killed him in the first, his 2nd round was only him complaining that he had to do one because of the format. I love the frentic pace of the last third, with each combatant riffing off the end of the previous person's line. They have the advantage of writing it out ahead of time, obviously, but that still flows so nice for each one building a line off the prior line. But yeah, I agree about Austin being out. I feel like anytime it's an original vs the parody version it's going to go to the original even if the parody is like you said way funnier.
@jrcspiderman20034 жыл бұрын
well another reactor I watched realized something no one else did and that's that Austin is secretly a genius, he set bond up to say the original line so the true original would come in because he knew that bond would try to rebuttal his line about how he (Austin) is original whereas bond is just one of many remakes by bond saying he's the original that Austin mimics thus causing the true original to come in and destroy the remake of himself so Austin could just sit back and watch and eat some popcorn 😂🤣😂 which is why at the end Austin comes up from the ground looking between them so happily because he's like YES IT WORKED MY PLAN WORKED because let's face it if you can roast someone and then instigate someone else in a way that they'll get after your opponent and finish him off for you you would especially because then you could just sit back relax and enjoy your genius

I love this battle...I love the word play of both Bonds pulling a "HELLO KITTY" pun on each other. Originally, I gave this to Austen, if only because I felt like his attacks were the most justified (Bond constantly being recast, their plots running out of originality; by comparison everything Craig/Bond brought up about Austen was part and parcel of the very spy tropes the Powers movies were intentionally making fun of, with the exception of his final movie falling a bit flat). However, I agree with you that Craig/Bond's delivery was more direct which allowed his shots to hit harder AND he had to content with a second Bond trying usurp his run and still held his own. So, yeah, Craig/Bond takes this one.

The Hello Kitty joke was a weird one, but I really do appreciate the acting game on this battle. I know Austin Powers wasn't terribly aggressive, but he was having so much fun with this it's infectious.

I usually don't comment, but this was one of THE best ERB's. Love it. And I was saying the same thing you said Scru, that Craig in the end won bc he did have a rebuttal for everything. It was more of a shock factor that Connery entered, but you have put that down in previous videos saying they shouldn't have won just for that. :)

I'm pretty sure you don't know this but this is my favourite battle out of all of them because I listen to this one on repeat every single time the seeing you react to this one is really going to make my day

Might not be my favorite battle overall, but the beat for Austin Power's verses is by far my favorite. Oh yeah, Hello Kitty.
