The guy who makes as much in 2 hours. As you will make all year. Then has you pay his taxes. He is happy if you kick down. That is NOT what james was celebrating. Agreed. It takes confidence to spin your trumpet or sticks on stage. Makes you look like you are in control and yet free to express yourself. Have always loved those moves. As a drummer in a band that covered Hendrix and Led Zepplin, I was more concerned about staying in time and driving the beat versus add-ons. But if I could do it again, I would work on the twirling effect. Thanks for your thoughts.

@Devilsnightforlife3 жыл бұрын
@@jarnold3415 It's an apt metaphor for America thinking they're star-spangled awesome at everything until moments later getting a harsh reality check. Something that remains true even to this day, perhaps even more so today. Rocky representing the more humble part of America who recognizes their shortcomings and works hard at them, while Apollo is too blind/arrogant to see them and pays the price for that hubris.
@Alexinytown3 жыл бұрын
@@Devilsnightforlife The harsh reality check in this movie coming from the Soviets engineering a freakishly strong human being by juicing him to the max, which also aptly reflected the issues of the USSR competing in legitimate athletic competition on an even playing field at the time. Truly if this was reality today, it'd be Rocky as the hard working American doing his best to get by, while his trainer (the people they elected with the expectation they would actually be in service to them) is actively working with Drago (the Chinese) to undermine Rocky by screwing him over while lining his own pocket from two sources.

Today is July 4th, 2024 and "Living in America" is a 1985 song composed by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight and performed by James Brown. It was released as a single in 1985 and reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song entered the Billboard Top 40 on January 11, 1986, and remained on the chart for 11 weeks. It was his first Top 40 hit in ten years on the US pop charts, and it would also be his last. In 1987, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song and won Brown a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance

@@joelhoulette3244 This song fit perfectly with "Rocky 4," a polished piece of Cold War propaganda. The heart of the film was Apollo and James Brown in the ring, performing. Overall, the film exhibited America's youthful exuberance, resilience after losing a battle and ability to defeat enemies, even while playing on their own turf, by their own rules.
