When Coleman was playing in Mr. Brown yelled out give me some sweet little angel that was one of B.B. King’s biggest hits, sweet little angel.

If you remember in the beginning of the song Mr. Brown said let’s take it to the bridge and then they went to the second part of make it funky. Get on the good foot is another one of Mr. Brown’s biggest hits from 1972.

A little background on this. James Brown has been my favorite artist since I was 12 years old in 1968 I have all of his records I saw him about 100 times in concert over 30 years and met him a few times. Now this particular song when it was originally put out in 1971 it was his first single for Polydor records after he left King records. It went to number one on the R&B charts. That was part one and part two. Then on the get on the Goodfoot album from 1972 he added part three and part four which was a separate single. That particular single didn’t go up that high on the charts. The entire version that you have here did not come out till decades later when they put it out on a compilation CD.

He was born in Barnwell South Carolina on May 3, 1933 and he grew up in Augusta Georgia. Oh by the way that one where you thought he said “pudding” he said “turnips” 🤣🤣

It was hard to catch it but when he asked Fred Wesley what is his horn called he said his horn is called the soul sister. That’s when James Brown said mine don’t look like that horn.

I def didn't hear him say SOUL SISTER
@PaulDA200014 күн бұрын
Yeah it was hard to hear it but if you listen to James Brown live at the Apollo volume three which is called Revolution of the mind and you listen to the complete version of escapism which he tried to say the majority of it was called make it funky which was not true because it was just an extended version of escapism. Make it funky had just been released and I guess he was trying to fool people in the thinking it was on the album so anyway if you listen to that entire version They do a big routine on LA. And that’s where you hear about the soul sister.

No there was no fining Fred Wesley for his part of the song that was completely ad lib. Mr. Brown didn’t expect him to follow him completely.

Told Coleman to give him a little bit of BB King so he’s played some blues guitar. B.B. King is considered the greatest blues guitarist of all time by most people.

You got the Martin Luther King thing wrong though it was Boston not Memphis and it was not televised nationwide it was only televised in Boston and they did it on repeat two or three times and they said Boston had very little rioting compared to other cities with a lot of black population.

Please react to Bootsy Collins- “The JB’s Tribute Pastor P” 🙏 The JB’s are the nickname of James Browns long time band. It has a surprise that you’ll enjoy too🫡
@PaulDA200016 күн бұрын
That wasn’t his band’s nickname that was their actual name. They used to be called the James Brown band and the James Brown Orchestra and then they became the JB’s.
@nateekis398216 күн бұрын
@ oh I thought JB’s was their nickname because it was The Pacemakers and they just went by the JBs when performing with James Brown
@PaulDA200015 күн бұрын
First came aboard they were not called the JB’s. They have a bunch of albums also by the JB’s. Then his later band open till his death was called the soul generals.

James Brown popularized yelling out take it to the bridge in a lot of his songs it just meant it changed to another part of the song. The bridge is unknown musical term but Mr. Brown made it his own in his songs when he would say let’s go to the bridge.
