There seems to be a lot of people in denial about James Brown being an abusive wife beater. There are police records documenting his domestic abuse. James also beat the singer Tammi Terrell when she was under-aged. He dated her when she sang in his Revue in the early 1960s. There are witnesses who saw him beat her. James was talented and I enjoy his music but people should be aware that he was a very troubled man with a history of violence and drug abuse. His daughter is a beautiful and smart lady. I'm glad she's not afraid to be honest about her legendary father.

Please mothers and fathers, let's all raise our sons and daughters with letting them know the signs of abuse, and it's not OK to give it or take it. We have an obligation to our community. I talk to all 3 of my daughters, (since they were in elementary school), about how it's not OK if a boy even talks to them derogatory, cussing, saying "shut-up", etc; abuse doesn't have to be hitting, and often times physical violence ends up in the mix, after it starts out with verbal abuse. Also talked to them about when they are teens, dating one day, that suggestions that they should quit something they love/are good at, making negative comments about the way they look, etc, are all signs of an abusive relationship.

She reminds me so much of the girls who stayed with the Colonel next door in the late 70s early 80s. They were Vanessa and Lisa Brown. She never knew I would sit out back and listen to her singing through the thin walls of suburban housing. I don't know which of the two it was though? I remember both being the sweetest ladies in the neighborhood who never got in any trouble, didn't hang out with the neighborhood riff raff like me (can't blame em) and loved the raspberry bushes in the back yard.

Ali and James Brown were probably the top non political figures of importance to the black community in the 60's. I was very proud of them both for different reasons. I looked at James Brown as the "ultimate" entertainer. His music was "hard" and we loved that! We loved the grind it portrayed. So while you're dancing, you're also mentally grinding. To this day, when play or hear "Cold Sweat" or "There was a Time," I stand up!

James son has a complete denial about his dad. He said alot of scenes in the movie were false. And the police detective who arrested James during the traffic stop admitted the high spped chase and crash did not happen that way. He said James slowly pulled over and was very cooperative and respectful. In closibg James daughter was arrested a few years ago for asault and battery on a motorist in a road rage incident in Augusta. Very strange. When you lie it comes back and bites you on the a#×.

NO ONE IS PERFECT AND SO THERE WILL BE ABUSE DUE TO THIN SKIN TODAY.THE GREATEST JOB THAT IS MOST DIFFICULT IN THIS WORLD IS RAISING A CHILD. I WAS A DRUG ADDICT WHO STARTED AT 14 YRS OLD WHO FOUGHT ALL MY LIFE TO RID MYSELF OF THE ADDICTION BUT IT WAS MY FAULT, MINE!! YES THEIR WAS ISSUES BUT NO FIGHTING OR DRINKING YET HERE I COME, ANYWAY I HAD A SON AND I STAYED AWAY AND I FOUND OUT THAT THE ISSUES HE HAD WERE BASED UPON MY NOT BEING THERE AND I THOUGHT IT BEST THAT I NOT BE AROUND; I WAS WRONG AND I HAVE FAILED IN LIFE BECAUSE I WASNT A GOOD PROVIDER( THAT WAS HARD TO SAY BUT SOMEBODY NEEDS TO HEAR THAT)BUT GOOD AT ADVICE SO I WANT TO SAY JUST DO YOUR BEST AND AVAILABLE TO TALK AND MOST OF ALL ........LISTEN, I MEAN ASK AND LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THEIR LITTLE WORLD AND YOU WILL FIND IT MATTERS AND SUGGEST DONT TELL, LET THE DECISION BE .......THEIRS! AND THEIRS ALONE!!! LISTEN YOU PARENTS EARLY LIFE S PROBLEMS GET OUT OF HAND DUE TO PEER PRESSURE AND CHILDREN HAVING PROBLEMS DEALING WITH THEM BY MAKING BAD DECISIONS BECAUSE OF IN SECURITY, THATS WHY YOU TEACH THEM EARLY TO TALK TO YOU AND THEY WILL KNOW HOW TO TALK TO OTHERS DUE TO BEING COMFORTABLE IN THEIR OWN SKIN, BECAUSE ITS GOING TO HAPPEN, AND WE WONT BE THERE TO PROTECT THEM YET IF THEY KNOW HOW TO DEFEND THEMSELVES VERBALLY THEY SHOULD BE ALRIGHT! BEFORE I WROTE THIS I READ ALL OF YOUR RESPONSES AND YOU SHOULD HEAR HOW YOU SOUND. THERE IS ALOT OF PASSION COMING OUT THROUGH NAME CALLING BECAUSE YOU HAVE A POINT BUT WOULD YOU SUGGEST YOUR CHILD TO RESPOND IN THE WAY YOU DID ON HERE? CMON NOW, SEE THIS IS HOW PEOPLE END UP IN COURT ALL ANGRY AND PEOPLE DIE FROM THIS FOLKS, THEY DO! SOME FOLKS CANT LET YOU WALK AWAY WITH THEIR CHILDREN,TAKE TIME TO THINK, REALLY THINK THINGS THROUGH CAUSE YOU DONT WANT TOFALL SHORT DUE TO YOUR OWN BEHAVIOR.......PLEASE ,IM BEGGING YOU, YOU DONT WANTTHAT YOKE AFTER YOU VE BEEN TOLD,PLEASE, YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU WILL , MONEY, MATERIAL THINGS, ETC BELIEVE ME YOUR HEALTH AND BEING A GOOD PARENT BEATS THEM ALL, ALL, ALL PEOPLE, ALL!!!

You are brave.please take the time to put Therese words in print so it can be circulated and live on after you are gone. Do you know how others could benefit from your ability to reach inside and bring those kind of truths forth. This platform cannot truly appreciate it because everybody already have their own opinion. New ears can benefit from it .

James Brown is great and while his behavior was bad at times his heart was pure gold. I look into your eyes and I do not see the soul that emitted from James Brown. We can see the reason he wrote you out of his will. You don't air you families dirty laundry for attention or personal gain. Everybody knows James had personal flaws. He is an American legend and no testimony of drunken spats will take that away.
