He always was a legend, my brother and I went to see Dragon, a great New Zealand - Australian band in 86 because Tommy was playing lead guitar for them at that time. He was an Australian guitar legend at least ten years before that. He and his brother Phil were guitar icon's from the late 60's onward.

James Burton is an absolute Legend and the reason that many country pickers play the way that they do now with techniques like chicken picking & string bends etc.. he put banjo strings on his Telecaster in the 50's so he could bend them way up & invented slinky strings in the process.His work with Rick Nelson, Elvis Presley, Emmylou Harris & countless others is immense and he will go down in history as one of the greatest guitarists of all time.Tommy is also one of the greatest acoustic guitar payers of all time and has secured his place in history.They are both GREAT GUITARISTS.

Always thought James was the bees knees when it comes to Tele players. One of those guys who always came up with the right licks when it was his turn. Tommy is an an extraordinary acoustic player but I, for one, wish he would have stuck with the Telecaster.

Joe Ryan Yes Joe,Tommy can do it all, but if it was not for great guitarists like James Burton,Chet Atkins ,Scotty Moore,Albert Lee and so on,maybe Tommy might not have been able to do it all.But anyway i think they are all great guitar players..
