All of these people were Stupid, the CEO doubly Stupid. They obviously learned nothing from the engineering and safety Violations of the Titanic which Killed over 1500 people, inclusive of 61 children. Exactly as the two guest interviewees have essentially stated in their own words. Experts for the U.S. Navy and NASA both issued statements clarifying that although they were consulted, they had no part in issuing any certification to this half-baked and poorly engineered, underwater death coffin.

The Titanic disaster was a story about the dangers of hubris and arrogance that killed many people. The venture was also a case of hubris and arrogance turning into a tragedy. The passengers wanted to try a risky venture knowing fully well their life was on the line. The builder and founder of the company was overconfident with the design, and then tragedy strikes. The moral of the story about the Titanic flew over all of their heads.

Why didn’t these billionaires ensure the safety of their submersible vessel, which they could have easily afforded!? The technology has existed for several years to safely reach such depths with a tethered cable. They signed a death waiver beforehand essentially, or that’s my interpretation at least. Billions of dollars spent & multiple military assets from several countries were deployed, yet we’re just now hearing of the verified implosion?

I don’t know that I feel bad for these people or their families. Rush took risks - he said it himself. Everyone said not to use titanium and carbon fiber and he ignored them. He believed he was backed up by logic and engineering; yes, on the earth’s surface, titanium and carbon fiber are proven compounds. However, they’ve not been tested under the type of pressures he was subjecting them to. This was an unproven, untested, and non-certified material and design. The people who put up the money to go on this expedition either didn’t do their homework or were willing to take the risk and had the money to do it and paid the ultimate price. I suppose I would feel worse about it if it had been some kind of electrical or mechanical failure and they had oxygen but we just couldn’t find them in time but a pressure implosion is nanoseconds. You’re here, you’re gone and there’s nothing left, literally. Some of their family members are saying that they were doing what they wanted to do; hooray for them…I’m glad they were able to do what they wanted to do and had the resources to do it. I’m NOT happy that they lost their lives doing it, but that was the chance they took when they chose to go in an experimental and unproven vessel on a risky endeavor. I love Cameron’s comments at the end about the lessons of Titanic: don’t be arrogant, don’t think you’re smarter than mother nature. Now there’s two wrecks next to each other that are testament to the frailty of man.

However the hull design should be excluded from this approach. The "experimental hull" means "experimental people on board". If you want to experiment with the hull, Ok fine, but put it to the test unmanned.

Many updated me that these people did raise the alarm but their pleas were disregarded. Now, I stand corrected. Sadly, we lost people in this exploration. Hopefully, future submersible builds will be more robust and safe vehicles to explore. Thanks to all who corrected me. My initial comment. @@frommarstosirius I kinda agree with you, they are in the field. They could have written about it or influenced that safety measures are taken. Mr Cameron said he contacted the small community in the deep sea exploration. These companies (likes of Oceangate) depend on these communities to test their vehicles. if they have seen that there was the fault, all they have to do is highlight it. if not heard, they could go to media or write about it or even do these anonymously. That is what social media is for. Future research would look into this incident... I know the passengers waived their rights by signing the disclaimer that their special interest trip could lead to death. Having said all these... if this has to happen this will happen no matter what safety measures... My only consolation is that the passengers have not suffered... I have not been in one of these and will never be able to afford it in this life...

What we do know is he only cared about money like the other 3 money making geniuses followed this jackass to the bottom of the ocean aboard that death trap. They deserve everything they got for being so incredibly dense and such a strain on society with their decadent stupidity. All of this should expose the notion of meritocracy for the ideological myth that it is. According to bourgeois ideology these people have their positions and wealth as a result of sheer merit, intellectual superiority and work ethic. Never mind primitive accumulation, the fact that they are the beneficiaries of the fruits that violent conquest produced and never mind the state apparatus aka the biggest stick in the yard that sustains this arrangement, THESE are the most competent and hardest working people on the planet. THIS is the best and brightest humanity has to offer.

I beg to differ. Everybody would wanna go like that. It's painless and instant death. Human brain won't even have time to detect what's happening. I believe the passengers dismissed their risk especially when people like Hamish Harding and the French gentleman, Nargoelet(?), who have both been on many dives to Titanic, were willing participants. Mr. Cameron had said “he couldn’t even process” that Nargoelet was going in the Titan.

Unlikely. The pressure is so great, the incident would have happened in a fraction of a second. At the level of the Titanic, 400 atmospheres of pressure! If it happened halfway down, still a lot, 200. Find videos from physics explainers demonstrating atmospheric pressure - 1 atm - and see how things can crumple. Humans can maybe survive a disaster involving 1 atm of pressure difference, depending on details. Maybe even 2 atm, but I wouldn't personally want to be involved. 20 atm would be deadly and quick. Take it up to 100 or 200 or 400 - the passengers had no idea! Straight to the afterworld.

Titanic itself can not be crushed because the pressure is equalised allready and water flooded inside from all orifices of the ship in other terms when the hull breech occours the pressure inside and outside is equal.

@@mountainstream8351An implosion is going to be the result of material failures when there is a big enough difference between pressure on one end compared to the other. Titanic and it's tea sets have equal pressure inside and out due to the flooding during the sinking.

There is no air or pressure on the titanic it’s completely flooded. You can’t implode without air pressure. The stern DID implode on the way down btw. The half of the ship that’s completely wrecked and barely seen.

The “fake it till you make it” or “think outside the box” motto is getting out of hand. Oceangate CEO Stockton Rush having an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering and suddenly becoming an expert in both deep sea exploration and material science of carbon fiber for underwater vessels is a lot like Elizabeth Homes, a college dropout, who suddenly becomes the world’s leading expert in blood testing technology and founding Theranos.
