I stopped watching the beauty community. I just wanted to figure out how to put on eye shadow for a wedding. I'm a "just lipstick" kind of person most of my days. (I'm lucky. I have nice skin. It doesn't break out a lot.) I always liked Wayne Goss. He used real people and he called out filters and that kind of crap. Even now, if there is an event and I need to figure out something, I'd probably head over to Goss' channel and look through the various videos. (Please note - I haven't watched his channel in a while. However, he was the biggest help when figuring out how to put on eye makeup and I loved his positive attitude.) I have never figured out eyeliner. I can barely swipe on mascara. (And I never remember to buy that stupid eyelash curler that they all use.) (My trick, just using a q tip - don't judge - and smudging it on the upper lash line. My eye senses my fear and goes twitchy crazy when I approach it with eyeliner. I can't say I blame my poor eyes.)

Yeah, as a gay guy, I get extremely disgusted with glorifying the pursuit of straight dudes. It's definitely not just James that does it, and honestly glad he was called on this because it's a conversation that we need to have. Gay men are only now attaining the same rights as others, and now it's almost considered "cool" to be supportive of everything gay guys do. And, in fact, I think people are scared to critique it because they don't want to seem problematic. Honestly, Unnatural Vegan, your criticisms of your vegan community have inspired me to start making videos criticizing these things about my community (i.e. the gay community). 🤔 There's a LOT of content that could be made from that.. because, trust me, the gay community has *SO* many toxic norms.

@mollytornado5 жыл бұрын
Vitamin supplements are only useful for people with deficiencies, certain medical conditions, or who are in certain stages of life. You should aim to get all of your nutrients from a well balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Supplements can cause you to go over the safe upper limits of nutrients, especially if you eat fortified foods/drinks and are already getting enough nutrients from your diet. This is why you should always consult a medical professional before taking any supplements, along with the fact they can negatively interact with prescription medication and be unsuitable for those with certain medical conditions. For most people, dietary supplements are a waste of money. It's also worth mentioning that a significant amount of the studies done on supplements are funded by the supplement industry.

I think people are missing what they need to learn from this whole situation. Stop blindly stanning people and cultishly buying all their products. People went from splurging on James Charles’ makeup stuff to subscribing and buying Tati’s products. At the end of the day, Tati profited enormously from this drama and she turned a blind eye to everything James did up until he wronged her (like you mentioned). Suddenly she cares about his predatory behavior after he took a jab at her company? It seems soooo fishy to me. I really want to like Tati, but I really just don’t trust anyone who is big in the beauty community at this point.
@Ksanichka5 жыл бұрын
Tati talked to James about those issues in private for a long while and tried to convince him to change his ways, because that's the kind of person she is, she is loyal to her friends and doesn't immediately throw them under the bus. But he ignored her and showed with his behaviour that he doesn't care about what she has to say and doesn't care about her, money is evidently much more important. So she had to tell her truth, above all because Gabriel Zamora said that she's overreacting. James Charles is basically an egotistical, ignorant, self-obsessed, garbage human being

I can't count how many times I've seen people online say 'well I couldn't say anything', or 'I tried to hint'. That's not being straight with people. Her complaints did co-incide with the vitamin thing. No one will convince me she had zero ulterior motives. So what if Gabriel Zamora said she was over reacting? She was. Her even mentioning him PROVES how much all this gossip crap affects her. She's as shallow as the rest of them.
@Ksanichka5 жыл бұрын
@@tkps what do have other people to do with how Tati handles things? I follow her for years and she showed through her actions her integrity time and time again, unlike the money hungry James Charles who values some cash over his friends. Tati has friends she had since childhood still by her side. The response to her video showed even more that everything she said was true and people who are in the industry (who aren't involved in the drama) said that they heard only good things about Tati. And I think to clearly realise that James Charles was only using her and to see how disloyal he truly is, was her breaking point. Why should she still care for someone and guard him, when he only cares for himself and gladly would betray her for some personal gain.

I think people are missing that Tati allegedly tried talking to James about his issues with straight men behind the scenes. He apparently never listened. Hence her bringing it to the public square. It's why imo, the "why didnt she care before" argument doesn't work here.

@@katekursive1370 Not a super fan of her either but what "BS" has she done? People say this but I never get a reply or if I do, I never get a clear answer. We can't speak to her intentions. Especially since it was clear the vitamin issue was simply the straw that broke the camels back. She had numerous issues (as in more than the vitamins) with him for a while and she makes that clear. And let's say you are right though, how does that excuse anything James Charles has done? If Tati has some "BS" by all means call it out though, however it seems like quite the deflection.
@oight5 жыл бұрын
@@KrissyMeow her bs is her not standing up for what's right and excusing constant racism/misogny/transphobia until her feelings got hurt. she even said in her video that she was one of the only few people willing to work with him after his ebola comments! she doesn't give a shit about his racism, the right thing would be to not promote someone like that but she did. also her video is a massive ad, the language she uses speaking about how her product is selling like hot cakes, she'd rather use money to fund research than marketing (making her brand sound more trustworthy and scientific when it's not), ultimately halo beauty is feeding off of normally teenage girls insecurity and she's making a killing from it.

I’ll be honest, I kept feeling like I was shit at make up because of those photoshopped pics. They weren’t better then me at make up application. They were maybe more creative, but that perfect eye look was a lot just photoshop. I felt so awful. I was doing all this bridal make up because I didn’t think I was good enough to be paid and finding out that the influences weren’t leagues better then me didn’t make me feel better, it made me feel stupid and used. Exactly. As much of a shitty person James is, Tati is also a fake, dishonest, shitty person.
@sarahclaiborne20105 жыл бұрын
Kind of responding as I watch, but Tati stated that her issue with James' promo of SBH is much deeper than him promoting a rival. She also stated she was patient and stuck around with James because she viewed him as a son, not a friend, which is why she never jumped ship on him. So for her to stick around for all of that and build him up to where he is today, him lying to her and turning around and promoting her rival clearly cut pretty deep.

I'm sure he would have hung himself eventually with enough rope without her cancelling him.

Ngl I don't blame Tati for dropping him over the suppliments thing, he went against her essentially, but I kind of take issue with how long she let him being inappropriate with straight boys go on. Clearly people have known about this for a while, and as his mom friend so to speak, or even as a close friend, she should've been calling him out on this sooner. You can't just let this kind of thing slide because he's young and maybe he'll grow out of it. You sit that boy down and you tell him what he's doing wrong to his face and you be sure he listens. If you wanna see that boy grow up well, you have to tell him off when he fucks up. Idk, if it was my friend, I would've put my foot down about this much sooner

I don't agree with the assumption that somehow in current day and age people don't know about photoshop and face-tuning. Even if I post a totally un-touched makeup free selfie, I still get accused on the regular for re-thouching and having cosmetic work done. It's to the point, where I start to think that people forgot that things like naturally full lips exists and not everyone who has them had injections. If anything, I think we all assume all people in the beauty community had some work done and do some level of retouching.

It's not just about knowing. It's about setting a standard where you have to use it in order to fit in. Also, a teenager can't really be aware of what can be done when you pay someone 200+ dollars just to photoshop one picture of you.

I'm not saying everyone has to be perfect from a waste perspective. However, quite a few videos are based on these cheap brands or ads or whatever, where things cost $2 and they directly support the systems of cheap and exploited labor to produce this junk to sell to consumers who dont give a shit. I like that people can entertain us through KZbin and make a living from it, but when all they do is contribute to the worlds problems (omnivorism, consumerism, etc) then what's the real point?

I don’t think people understand how discouraging this is. For any creative regardless the medium to have put in all your time and energy in perfecting the craft that is more than just a clout-path to be dismissed because they don’t have any notoriety is heartbreaking. James not only heavily edits his makeup looks but also has blatantly stole from other artists. My heart goes out to the creatives who continue to persevere because this is their lifeline. I agree on everything about the beauty community being unrealistic and toxic BUT calling a 19 year old kid a sexual predator (whose a virgin and never actually did anything none consensual) is wrong. All he is guilty of is some flirting that ALL teenagers (gay or straight) do. I never liked him either but i just think sure he needed some humbling but come on, he is not a sexual predator. If he was a straight guy or a girl no one would think anything of it but because he is gay everyone is like WE HAVE TO PROTECT STRAIGHT MEN !!! He is not a rapist or a sexual predator or using his power to convert straight men or anything. Tati's video was bunch of bullshit and she knows it and that's why its not even up anymore.
