Iconic voice and one of the best actors. I love his role as Thulsa Doom in Conan. His expressions without saying anything a word was moving

While I was very young at the time, ~10 years old or so, I loved Cavett’s show from its beginning. Loved his dweeby kind of humor, his choice of guests, the pleasantry of the interactions he’d have. The show he did immediately after Woodstock was over, he had some of the great performers there, it was magnificent. Then he had poor Joni Mitchell on, who, as I recall, was told by her agent not to attend. I could feel the resentment in her even as a kid. And there was always his attempts to play peacemaker, the great show with Oliver Reed & Shelly Winters comes to mind, it was killer TV! Truly an American original, thanks for all the memories, Dick!

Anyone notice how Vader’s accent changed from American to English, when he was unmasked in ROTJ.

Major Kong, is it possible this is some kind of loyalty test? You know, give the go-code, and then recall to see who would actually go?

I love Cavett, but he doesn’t come off well in this clip, nor in the recently posted clip with Ian McKellen. His criticism of Asian and Asian American actors who were angry about the casting of Miss Saigon reads as particularly tone deaf.

He's right, they are misguided people.

@@Cosmo-KramerWhy? As Jones points out, Asian and Asian American actors were already underemployed in show business. Is it really misguided to think that there could have been an Asian or Asian American actor suited just as well if not better to the role than Jonathan Pryce?

@@enbym1793 And how do you know none were considered, but they went with the actor they thought was best qualified for job? You're making a big assumption, just to suit your agenda.

@@Cosmo-Kramer Oh come on. I know that none were considered because I know the history of that production. You’re being deliberately obtuse to suit your agenda. And you’re betraying your bias that a white actor can be singularly superior to all Asian actors combined. You still haven’t answered why you think those individuals who objected to Pryce’s casting were misguided.

I wonder what todays Cavett thinks of the under- and misrepresentation of Asian actors in the movie industry. Would he still be a Dick?
