As far as I can tell in the comics it is pretty much all Lex's massive ego. In the Smallville TV series the original name of the company was called LuthorCorp and it was created by Lex's father Lionel Luthor. By the end of the show Lex had renamed it as him and his father had an antagonistic relationship.

Green Lantern has actually been both Hal Jordan and John Stewart throughout the animated series. I think he's the only character that's changed during that time. And Powergirl would make the crazies head explode. And frankly, they just wouldn't be big enough for live action.

In the DCAU, there is one episode involving time shenanigans that had John Stewart turn into Hal Jordan. Pretty funny scene actually. You're absolutely right though, outside of DCAU (which had Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, and Jessica Cruz), Hal Jordan was in almost every single animated Justice League (DCAMU, Crisis on Two Earths, etc.).

I really disagree. I think your over-normie-correcting. The term 'MCU' has been planted in the public conscious for like a decade now and people know the Justice League ain't in it. More realistically 1 : the MCU has sorta been spiraling. 2 : the Snyder cut wasnt bad and got back some good will 3 : Aquaman (at least in the DC movie universe) is actually a pretty badass character. He doesn't have flashy powers so when he fights it's mostly just him leaning on his super strength, agility, etc. to kick ass primarily hand to hand. He's been what I'd describe as an opportunistic fighter rather than a style fighter. Someone like Thor or Spiderman or Ironman are going to use their abilities and kits to win fights, whereas Aquaman was shown using basically whatever was nearby. This is a fairly unique style of superhero combat and it makes him seem legitimately impressive. (IMO the MCU should have kept Thors eye gone, not given him the axe, and made him a raging electric berserker brawler. You just don't have many good hand-to-hand heros) 4 : You can't really prescribe Aquaman's success to "people just thought it was the MCU" when the MCU isn't even doing too hot. Thor 4, Wakanda Forever, Quantummania, etc. Audiences weren't going to see ACTUAL MCU movies, so citing "well, normies thought Aquaman was in the MCU" can't really explain why it did so well.

It's some and some... Gunn didn't want to keep Caville because he wanted to do the origin story, so twentyish year old Superman. Caville was great, but he isn't a teenager. And since its a reboot, its fair enough to want a new face of the franchise. Yes, Caville is expensive (and busy with other projects) but he sure as hell can't be playing Superman in 5 or 10 years time.

Batman TAS did kinda go through a soft reboot when Superman TAS began, all characters were redesigned, the Noir aesthetic was toned down to make it consisten with the rest of the JLA extended universe and several characters were redesigned... the Joker came out loosing. but other like the scarecrow were a MASSIVE improvement

This movie doesn't look bad and is at least a step in the right direction; however, it looks entirely bloated. Hopefully the majority of scenes are montage cuts because this trailer looks like it's either an ad for like 5 different properties or a 5 hour film. There's just so many characters that aren't Superman in his own film; there's just so many villains that don't seem to be the BIG bad. Lex looks like the BIG bad, and I'm quite happy with how he's shown so far. Hopefully this Clark Kent is different from Snyder's Kal-El; no disrespect towards Henry Cavill as he was never allowed to actually play the Man of Tomorrow but rather an emotionless psychotic bore. Provided that Superman is lighter and actually hopeful, I'd be very interested in this world's Batman. I'm hoping for a blue wearing one with that yellow background for his symbol; less Batfleck or Battinson (no offense to the actors, they were just fine), less grit and edge, and more Conroy in his brighter Bruce Wayne roles; similar to TMNT's Batman X-over.

I think animation IS generally a better medium for stuff like superheroes as you can have all the CGI and editing in the world, but it'll still look more natural when done in an animation, either good ol' 2D or even 3D.

Gunn did something weird by stating that the suicide squad and Peacemaker season 1 (except for some parts of the finale) are canon, with creature commandos confirming that it takes place 2 years AFTER the suicide squad, as long as any project within this new universe doesn't feel like homework like what Marvel has been doing post-endgame, we are good. If we do the math, this Superman is in his third or fourth year of active service since Creature Commandos established that the suicide squad took place two years prior. In that movie, Amanda mentions that Bloodsport sent Superman to the ICU with a kryptonite bullet. The upcoming Batman Brave and the Bold movie will feature the caped crusader and his son, Damian Wayne, meaning that this Batman has been around for roughly 10 to 20 years. On the one hand, it is good that they are not doing ANOTHER origin story, but on the other hand, newcomers could be overwhelmed. I only hope Gunn & Co know what are they doing with this.

I don’t think the “we don’t need another origin story” criticism works. After all, we’ve all seen enough stories we can probably guess how most of them are going to go. Why “TV Tropes ruined your media” is a trope (people noticing it now) and things like the heroes journey fit most stories, or why we have to suspend disbelief that the characters could actually loose.
