In my opinion probably one of if not the greatest horror novelist of all time, wayyyy better than Stephen King, both books you mentioned are great, , so are the rats trilogy, the magic cottage, you could just go on and on and on, I think I've read everyone of his books, and never ever been dissatisfied or disappointed

It was the mid 80's, I was 11 years old & stuck in hospital recovering from an operation. My eldest brother visited me & had finished reading The Rats on his way to see me. He left it with me & needless to say that was my introduction to James Herbert books. A year later I was reading Stephen King & have been hooked on both ever since.

I've read all his books. Great writer. The rats was a good one. His stories were horror based but took me on a journey of hideous creatures and crazy mad scientist type characters. In his prologue he always thanked Queensryke for being a source of inspiration.

I loved James Herbert's books when I was a teenager - The Magic Cottage was my favourite - but had no idea he was buried here. I live in a village just outside Horsham but travel backwards and forwards to my hometown of Hove regularly. I drive past a couple of times a week and I'm pretty sure I've been to a service at the church, but it might have been it's sister church, St Gile's.

Great video Paul, and loved the information. Thank you also to Barry! What a star! I was dismayed by the state of the surrounding land of the church - especially the graveyard. It was so badly over-grown in some places, and an absolute mud-bath in others. Some of the older gravestones were in such a bad state of repair and this reflected upon the Church - making it seem like the Church itself didn't care for the state of these obviously older stones and the residents. Surely they could put out an appeal for help from local gardeners or local'ish' gardening companies who could get together and help to keep certain parts of the graveyard in better condition. From simply mowing the grass to clearing the over-grown areas, and then someone(s) who know about removing all the moss and whatever it is which is growing over the stones - leaving the whole of the church and it's residents in a much better state. The Church surely could pull together and get a radio appeal, a local newspaper(s) appeal and even an appeal on Facebook, for say an hour a week from people, to begin the clean up, and then the continual upkeep and care. OK... stepping down off my soapbox, picking it up, tucking it under my arm, and exiting stage left. Great report Paul. ~ Cobs (GB)

Horror not being my cup of tea, the closest I ever came to rats was watching them late at night, perform their acrobatics in the New York City subway, as I made my way home after class. The size of small cats - and totally fearless, they made big, black garbage bags come alive on the platform, as they went looking for a late night snack. Lovely church, Paul - and THANK You for bringing attention to such a talented storyteller. Wishing You a Happy Easter, and as always, looking forward to Your next clip!💕
