If you’ve ever attended a live show or a taping of a show you would know that there is an audience coordinator that tells the audience when to clap. He or she is often off camera giving signals to clap and when to quiet down. Especially when they start speaking.

I saw him in a London play entitled "The Ruling Class ." The play itself wasn't wonderful but, OMG, he was. I sat a few rows from the stage, dead center, and it was absolutely thrilled to be that close to one of my favorite actors!

I'll never forget the guy he played in the very beginning in the first movie, the one who captures the girls and then tries to rape one... It was one of those moments where my (beloved) idea of him as an actor almost fell apart, because he played him so authentically, it was bonechilling.

Usually it's because there is a director who's behind the scenes giving the audience cues to applaud, cheer, etc. It's to keep the energy of the interview up. But I agree... Less applause would be nice. LOL
