As a person diagnosed with Dissociative identity disorder ( split personalities) I have to say he was AMAZING! His portrayal really showed what it is seriously like to live with this disorder. The whole "in the light" thing was a really interesting way of showing how we can often handle things better by letting one personality "take over at will" when needed by using "triggers" that we create for ourselves in order to cope. But it was his portrayal of showing how we can be involuntarily "triggered" into switching that was really breath taking and THAT must have taken A LOT of work for him to be able to pull off as an actor. I have so much respect for Mr. McAvoy for not only taking on such a controversial role, but for portraying us in a realistic instead of "comical" light and for putting so much of his heart and soul into each of the characters he was playing. In a way, he honored us with the way he was able to really show the audience what this disorder is seriously like by using his amazing skills as an actor to bring Crumb to life the way he did. ( well even though one of his personalities was a serial killer and most of us dont have that problem at least LMAO). To be honest, had I seen him playing this character in like a documentary type scenario, I would have sworn he really had the disorder himself, he pulled it off THAT brilliantly.

@@marcoantonetti5682 Meh, Just sharing my knowledge in the hope that I may help someone else in some way is all. Its difficult to live with, but if a person really wants to put in the work to live a "normal" life, its possible to be pretty close to normal anyways. Its just A damn lotta work, and i'm lucky as I have 2 very close friends willing to work closely with me to help, along with my hubby and 2 VERY good doctors. We are still human too, sadly sometimes other people dont see us that way. :,(

A Colleague asked me in all the time we worked in psychiatric medicine have I ever had a patient diagnosed DID present with any dissociative behaviors and we both had to pause. We both said we haven't. As a person who is diagnosed, what signs/symptoms and affects are the likeliest to present in a DID diagnosis? Thank you if you see and answer my question. Be well!

The critics got this one so wrong. I absolutely loved Glass and just that whole trilogy in general. Getting to see The Beast and David Dunn square off against each other was spectacular. And James played this/these character(s) so well

KillFace4President same here, i was really suprised with the negative reviews.
@ororomunroe40554 жыл бұрын
@@afrikanlawyer it's up for the razzies, and I think James is nominated for a razzie, worst actor. What a joke, the movie wasn't even that bad, it wasn't as good as Split but the negativity was excessive and now this Razzie thing? The hell. That's why I don't listen to critics and watch things by myself, they are full of shit and decide some boring movies are amazing and others that are bad and they don't have an opinion of their own, same applies with award shows

When my parents died, another personality emerged. They were killed instantly and I felt alone in the world having no siblings. So, Aniah, a British personality emerged. For years he hasn't come around. they died 27 years ago. Whenever I feel threatened or if I am a point of attack, Aniah emerges and he handles things for me. James' portrayal of someone with this disorder is uncannily realistic. When Aniah takes over it's like I am watching a movie. It's hard to explain.

I'm not one to say if the way the filmmakers decided to portray DID was completely okay, but no one can deny the fact that James himself does understand how the disorder works and has done an amazing job. He does see his character as a suffering person and not as the villain he's supposed to be.
