By the time our youngsters reach pensionable age, there won't be such thing as a "pensionable age". No official retirement age, and no state pension at all. No benefits either, you'll be working up until the day you die. Not only is this future I described possible, it's pretty likely to come to pass if the Tories, the LibDems or a Labour party under the wrong leader get the chance to do it. The welfare state is going to disappear soon. Labour could stop this, but I'm not sure that the party wants to stop it.

For all of their shortcomings, America 🇺🇸 has saved Europe 🇪🇺 at least 6 times in the last century. In that same time, 🇺🇲 has not needed 🇪🇺 to save it even once. Post critical of Europe - if you get triggered, don't read on. 1. WWI 2. WWII 3. Marshall Plan 4. Cold War defense 5. Yugoslavia (massive European failure) 6. Ukraine 6b. And for that extra bonus, delivery of LNG to help 🇪🇺 make it through this winter (6b is only one where 🇺🇸 is making profit) In the meantime, can anyone name one time when Europe had to step in and save 🇺🇸 militarily or economically? We spend a lot of time criticizing 🇺🇸 (rightfully so sometimes) and looking down on them. But the reality is they are consistently far stronger and more reliable than us. There's a reason that so many Americans look at Europe with contempt. The last time America truly needed European help was during the American revolution's Battle of Yorktown. They simply don't need us as much as we need them. It's a tough pill for Europeans to swallow.
