If James Stewart had a farewell speech to his acting career this would be it the one. It was his way of saying goodbye and welcoming the new generations of future stars.

Whether you love or hate American Tail 2, I think everyone can agree that this line was truly a perfect closing to such a legendary actor’s career.

Just want you to know that this is still touching people in 2022. I loved this movie as a child but I am enjoying and appreciating it twice as much as an adult. RIP Jimmy, an absolute legend.

That line. That line was powerful to me, even as a child. I never forgot those words.

That final line in his career is so powerful. He was a World War 2 bomber pilot, loving man, and he was an amazing actor. He'll never be forgotten.

He was survived by his twin daughters, Kelly and Judith, stepson Michael, and 4 grandchildren.

I feel like what James Stewart said here is exactly how he got to heaven. He wasn't sure of what was ahead of him at that moment, but he kept on going, looking back on his life as the hero he was to all of us in his films, and looked forward to lay resting in everlasting and eternal peace. R.I.P. James Stewart, you will forever be missed.

He didn’t die THAT soon after this, he lived another 6+ years and voiced over or took part in over a dozen documentaries after. This was more like his goodbye to acting.

James Stewart even though he's gone forever but never forgotten. In my own words, "one man's sunset is another man's dawn." That line to me it says that even when one man's life and story is almost at the end another man's life and story is about to begin and be told. Even the year that James Stewart was called home by God that same God gave life to me and when one soul was going up and done another soul me and whoever else was born the same year he died and those words through sheriff burp are truer words never spoken.

also he said "I don't know whats out there beyond those hills! But if you ride younder, head up, eyes steady, heart open I think one day you'll be the hero you'll be looking for!" This probily meant he knew heaven was out there ready for him and when he passed he was never forgotten and was a hero!

That was a tearjerking scene to remember, especially for me when he died in 1997 on July 2nd, my 4th birthday.

I think you're right. I was surprised to learn that while acting, he spent 27 years in service, first in the Army Air Corps and the rest in the newly formed Air Force. From what I understand, he was a good person with a huge heart.
