Russ Kunkel is one of my all-time favorite drummers, period. I spent many many hours as a child, playing along to classic songs he recorded. That said though, no one can play this tune like Carlos Vega used to play it. His little one-handed press rolls on the snare in the second half of this tune are absolutely to die for. What a musical genius...gone WAY too soon. Still brings tears to my eyes to think of his loss.

this is the best version by far. i'm a singer songwriter and i will echo the sentiment of Sting regarding James Taylor: "... when i saw James, i thought to myself that i better find another occupation cuz there's not way i'm reaching this level..." (paraphrased) every other artist i go, "yeah i like them. but i have my own thing too." with James, it's more like, "he's better than i am regarding all aspects of musical talent. he's a lyrical genius, has a voice like some perfectly tuned glass wind instrument as clear as a prepubescent choir boy, and while performing this genius in front of a large audience, he picks guitar more smoothly and better than i can while focusing on my picking alone... it's somewhat discouraging. but James is right when he says the children cry when they see him. when i hear him, it feels like a shot of morphine. just a still sense of awe and poignant wonder... aaand, of course, this only has 6k views... i guess people are too side tracked listening to more quality stuff like Soulja Boy or something. i wonder why non refined, and low brow music won out the popular vote (i'm not being a douchey snob; it's just an irrefutable truth... if such lyrical sentiments as, "get rich or die tryin'," or "i'll let you lick the lollipop," are deep and insightful to you, then please forgive me; i apologize).

I just ordered Pull Over. I want to hear it as clearly as I can. This concert is as good as it gets. I'll have to listen to Ten Summoner's Tales after I watch it to listen for influences.

@@hannabaal150 cool; i'll have to check it out also. thanks for the tip. almost the whole dvd is good. i lost mine >:(. but even the less immediately appealing songs grew on me quite a bit. i hope you will enjoy it as much as i did. he seems to be of the most refined caliber and plays with musicians who are really good at what they do. i always get back to statements i've made and see the moronic grammar mistakes... geez (mixing up to and too? come on... just embarrassing)

....I never heard this song, ...I liked it, ....reminded me of a Bible verse that talks about putting on the new personality that conforms to Christ Jesus" .....he said so much in his 3 1/3 yrs of His ministry all Good all Truthful, a Mighty King now who send our prayers up, ...no longer a baby in a manger or dying on a tree, .....He really suffered for all of us, ....because of Christ Jesus we have the hope of a restored Earth with perfect peace by Their own doing ...my faith grows stronger everyday, and on bad days I pray more to Jehovah thru the name of King Christ Jesus ......the cold dark ages are over! And God's light is getting brighter and Brighter until God's great day is here we sing a beautiful song about that song #77 in our song book "Sing Out Joyfully To Jehovah" I also love song#129, 141, 139, 143 ....just sharing this songs teach Bible truths and uplift us, ......I praise Jehovah Forever and honor and obey His Son the King Christ Jesus ...a real cozy comfort in these times we find ourselves in 🙏🏼🏞️💨☀️🌾💛

How can there be no comments for this band as amazing as they are!! I discovered them watching the 2011 show in Santa Monica with David Crosby, America and Venice providing additional backing musical and vocal support. I will never understand how this incredibly talented band was never a huge success in the US. Did their label not do any promotion for them? Damn shame!!
@BigAl53750 Жыл бұрын
This BAND? I agree that the backing musicians are exceptional, but it’s the man singing that is the focus here and he is James Taylor, one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the 20th Century. James Taylor doesn’t need any promotion. They just anounced the concert dates and venues and the tickets sell out within minutes. As I said, the musicians are all exceptional, top notch, and all the other accolades you can think of, but in this case, they are backing musicians and not a BAND in the sense you’re talking about.

Arthur Schopenhauer, classified Music as the main and most important Art in the world. He mentioned Music as the most powerful one among every Art because Sounds, you can't see them but again, a Sound can make you happy or make you cry. This song and this Artist is a Schopenhauer example. Bless JT. C.A.👍

Oneness takes a lot of courage and the ability to just move forward at the end of the e vening when typing and communicating is complete. I could freeze right now and just stop but this time for women and men's sake we have to make this work....it would be easy to stay silent, but I just cannot this time. It's too dangerous to shut up. I know many think I should, but I still work at getting people to just talk...rather than kill...I know how hard this is....thank you

so is there some allegorical action here for James's own life and he being the frozen man? i think so... i mean, he had suicidal depression and his father put him in a mental hospital (also for heroin addiction, for which he kept doing even after getting out). he made most of his first best songs in the hospital and sent them to the new Beatles lable 'Apple Records' and it took a bunch of money to start his heart, peg his leg, and buy his art... people when they see him cry over the poignant beauty in his music/lyrics.. idk; who tf knows these things..
